Just got it and the typical one glaring thing that hits me (as always) is there is horrible English dialogue and no way to change it.

For you game hacking guru's around, how hard would it be to put the original voices into the new game? I would greatly consider that to be using your powers for the betterment of mankind.
I want to like this game, and I did, but my ears are bleeding. At least with the original, I was ignorant and didn;t listen to the original audio....

Err, wow. Are we playing the same game? O_o

This is the first complaint I've seen about the VA in the game. I think it's fantastic and easily among the best I've heard without question. The localization as a whole has been superb so far to me.

I guess Star Ocean 2's English voices would make his head explode then.

Seriously though, what's wrong with the voices? What would you consider a game with good English voices if this game isn't? Your bar of standards must be ridiculously high.

Haha, sorry, it was more the game then the quality. I had grown used to the initial vioces so switching them around really didn;t sound right at first. They're slowly growing on me, and it was more the opening cut-scene that I didn;t like. And yeah SO2 Voices are terrible, but I kind of like it that way because I've already grown used to them.

It's more that I love the series and want the seoncd to be as good as it can then not liking the vioces, but goodness knows the English voices in the original were much worse.
Sorry, was an initial responce, I'll put down my torch and pitchfork now.

I love Lezard's voice in VP 1 and VP 2. I loved his win quotes too.

VP1: They say one shouldn't speak unkindly of the dead, so I say nice try.
VP2: Death by fire, by cold, by crushing blade.

As its legality is questionable I won't provide it directly Google for "scph1001.bin" or "scph7502.bin".

I've been playing it for a while, and it is indeed, very enjoyable.

The VAs are great.I like Arngrim's,Rufus' and Lezard's VAs the most,Dylan's isnt too bad either.

I'm liking the quotes said in battle.

Just a few that come to mind...

Arngrim> It sure beats having to deal with spoiled brats and prissy boys.

Rufus>No way! You gotta be kidding. Not even funny.

I really wish all games were as good as this.

I'm pretty much at the end of the game, just have to defeat the final boss.

Aside from the einherjar system, the only thing that doesn't really stack up to the original game is the dungeon design. The visuals are beautiful and all but there's a really severe lack of dungeons with their own little quirks and puzzles. The last several dungeons are really large though. But they're still fun to explore.

The real story is very very awesome, but it really takes playing VP1 through (and liking) the A ending to seriously appreciate. And waiting literally 6 years after that game to finally see this new stuff just makes this that damn much more AWESOME.

tri-Ace: please keep making more awesome VP games. But please don't trash them from a storyline perspective like you did with Star Ocean.

Just got the game 2-3 days ago, now doing Chateau Obsession.

I found no problems with it, the game is great...........

But I HATE the generics!!!!!!,

besides the mages, I don't want 5-10 Characters having the same skills.......

seems tri-Ace likes the copy/paste feature as much as Vegh does..........

Seeing Lezard in this game made me like him even more.  I'm really wondering about his age now though.

I'm pretty sure Lezard cant age anymore. Didn't he trash his physical body in VP1?

I never really played the VP games (only beat the first dungeon of each game, but don't really plan to play further) so correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't VP2 a prequel to the first VP? That would mean Lezard would be younger, so wouldn't it make sense for Lezard to be in VP2? Or is that irrelevent and there's some other reason to wonder about Lezard's age?

Reincarnation is a big thing in VP's world...

But really, it's really too much a spoiler to talk about.

So, let's bring out our good friend, rot-13 to encrypt it:

Yrmneq Inyrgu va obgu IC1 naq IC2 ner gur fnzr thl. Ur hfrq gur gvzr znpuvar va Qvcna gb tb onpx.

I know it's a crazy spoiler. Lezard isn't insane like he is in VP, so something's gotta happen.  Arngrim's there too, but I already knew he'd be there since ur jnf gurer jvgu Uevfg jura Oneonebffn tbg uvf urnq pubccrq bss.

Kogahazan, VP2 takes place like 100 years before VP so that's why I'm wondering about Lezard.

Yrmneq Inyrgu va obgu IC1 naq IC2 ner gur fnzr thl. Ur hfrq gur gvzr znpuvar va Qvcna gb tb onpx.

I figured it was and something like that would happen.

So I beat the game. The story goes like this in a nutshell, I guess.

Yrmneq tbrf onpx va gvzr naq fperjf guvatf hc.

It's quite a bit more complicated than that though...

Nah, this way is clutch.  I hate the pointlessness of typing spoilers.  This way people spoil it for themselves.

Well Cless and Kiko, this all seems really interesting and I can't wait to get to it in the game.  The way I look at spoilers is, sure I know it happened, but I don't know why and how it happened.  I like to find these things out.
