Developed by tri-Ace Inc./Character illustration:KOU YOSHINARI / YOU YOSHINARI
- The main character is a young soldier with silver hair who hates the Valkyries from past experience.
- He is determined to fight against the gods using the "feather that leads to victory" given to him by Heru from the underworld.
- Everytime he uses the power of the wing, it turns darker.
- Ansel is close friend of Wilfred.
- Elise is a mysterious girl from the underworld that seeks to help Wilfred.

Not sure if I like the idea that the main character is a dude in this.

I sure hope it has gameplay elements that make it VP. One screen makes it look like VP: Tactics or something... that's not VP.

It being developed by tri-Ace and not being farmed out to some low-tier devhouse is reassuring though.

Developed by tri-Ace Inc.
I highly doubt tri-Ace is directly involved. Square-Enix is bound by contract with tri-Ace to include the above copyright line for VP related software even if they aren't involved. We already had the same case with the sloppy VP PSP port (by TOSE) already.

I never really got far in the PSP port. (I only ever finished the PSX version.) What was wrong with the PSP one?

You mean besides the blurry graphics and the (albeit minor) loading times not in the original?
That tri-Ace wasn't involved in the least. The PS1 game had fixes/tweaks given to the later released US version, but the port fell back on the buggier Japanese version for all versions/translations (can't find the list of changes atm...).

Looks like that guy's wearing a fishnet bodysuit........

Interestingly enought it appears that they changed to an isometric view rather than a 2.5D in VP2 and 2D in VP, perhaps this means that there's going to be more freedom of movement in this one?

Full scan now available:

I hope this turns out good. Too bad VP2's battle system doesn't seem likely.

I don't like the isometric perspective, but for now I'll just wait until we learn more about it.

Who knows, a new battlesystem might be just as good.

Scans with more stuff:

The 2D graphics are incredibly underwhelming for a tri-Ace title. Tiny sprites, uninteresting art direction.

So why is this game isometric? So much for the "Profile" moniker.

Sigh. I wish I didn't have such a pessimistic impression on this game so far. But the game looks so low-budget compared to everything else tri-Ace has done before and they're even going against the nature of the series. It has the Valkyries and apparently some incarnation of the battle system, but where are the platforming dungeons? Those are big part of VP to me and something that really sets it apart from other RPGs.

The story doesn't seem as interesting as VP1, which is the only one I've played. Nonetheless, I don't want to give up hope that this will still turn out to be a great game.

Typical SE trailer, nice CG cutscene that in the end won't add much to the game anyway, and that's it.
I'll wait until I see some gameplay.

Indeed, called it trailer, but should be more like a teaser.

I'd like to see Square focusing more on gameplay and in-game graphics these days.

Don't worry Cless; I'm also slightly pessimistic. VP2 imo was a superb sequel to the original (aside from a few questionable story decisions, I thought the gameplay was wowsome), and I really had high hopes for the next. This sounds like a low budget spin-off that doesn't seem anything like the other two games. No Profile view, no signs of platforming, tiny sprites, barren environments and art... it's just not the VP we're accustomed to. Makes me wonder what is is. Since gameplay details are very thin.

But again, the fact that it's being developed by tri-Ace is reassuring. I still have some faith in me that they'll provide something decent.
