It's a shame that the ones on youtube have no sound.

Overall, the remade cut scenes were nicely done.

Apparently one of the review comments was the game is quite challenging. That's a rather different change of pace of most RPGs.

The original VP wasn't that difficult as far as battling goes. It was more in the dungeon design. And the best ending was pretty much impossible to unearth without a guide...

I'm wondering if I should play Lenneth befre touching this.

Glad to hear about the difficulty, so this pretty much means the game owns for us hardcores. Lovely.

Yeah the dungeon designs were what made the first VP hard, not the battles.

If Slimera has difficult battles that could be a nice change although if they go into making all enemies like Queen Iselia in the first one then I might scream.

Well... I think it would be a good idea. There's sooooooo much backstory in the game that isn't really elaborated too much on. It made a lot of things very mysterious, making many clamor for some kind of successor to spill the beans. VP2 appears to be clearing up one of the biggest backplots.

It got nice scores, so I'm hoping that means the difficulty is based on strategy reasons and not outright cheapness (of course, I'd expect there to be some cheapass fights too... tri-Ace likes those damn things, especially in optional parts).

I assume the artifact box is all but impossible to get now?  For those of us (mainly me) who just don;t pay attention until the last second.
: P

And hooray for difficulty. Hope it's more a learning/getting better at it curb then like you said, cheapness. (Those things in the second half of SO2, that EAT you, am I the only one who has a severe hatred for whoever threw those things in the CoT with the time-stoppers?)

Those things that eat you are pretty easy if your fast, although they do get rather annoying, Leon is too slow to handle them alone ;_;

I hate those archer enemies though, and don't forget the Dark Servant guys on the bottom floor *twitch* *twitch*

Ah I'm always solo by the time I reach that point (usualy Claude), so they get nasty if the time stoppers freeze me right away (they start in the back) then the things get a few free shots to gobble me up while I'm running around trying to kill the hourglass things. I can use painings to cast shadowflare, but it doesn;t always get off fast enough. And sword bomber either saves me or kills me >_<

BTW, does anyone know if VP2 will have the same or similar ecounter/dungeon style as the first?

I've actually been wondering how the PSP version will affect the market for the PS1 version...

34/40 in Famitsu. Around the same the first VP got.

All reviewers apparently commented on the game's difficulty and steep learning curve ("not enough tutorials!" was apparently an actual comment). Maybe they all just suck!

Suddenly doesn't sound as import friendly as the original was.

Probably diminish its value, and for good reason too! Tongue

34 from Famitsu sounds GREAT. Anything above 32 is usually a nice thing from them, sometimes games that score below that, I even enjoy.

But the complaints about difficulty really makes me wonder if some of these people weren't gamers during the good ole 8/16-bit days. I just hope the difficulty isn't unevenly distributed to the point where it affects the pacing of the game.

At least the time difference between the Japanese and US release isn't that far apart.

Hopefully. I don't want another SO3 delay - I had that thing preordered since fall of 02
