I have to agree with the choppy animations part. Not with game play but in cut scenes they really missed the mark with that. The music is fine I don't know what they're complaining about. I guess I have to play the game to hear all the music.

Holy moly, this game sold 166k copies in its first four days of release. That's just 4k below ToV's lifetime Japanese sales, and only about 40k beneath Blue Dragon.

EDIT:
1. Blue Dragon 203,740 copies
2. Tales of Vesperia 170, 024 copies
3. Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope 166,027 copies

Good for Star Ocean, bad for Tales. What atrocious lifetime sales for Vesperia...

i don't know how they could expect any differently... especially if they do stupid stuff like releasing two tales games almost on top of each other. and that's putting aside the whole torrential tide of titillating tales titles thing for a moment.

Now I looked through this entire thread (well skimmed), and I didn't see this piece of information. But you might've already stated it:

Appearantly SO4 is taking place before SO1. And instead of me giving you an half-assed explanation (or exaggerated): read the entire article here:

http://www.destructoid.com/star-ocean-4-is-a-prequel-plus-more-game-details-79428.phtml

There's a nifty video there too.

Also, "no plans" for PS3 release so far. Which you probably already know, but this dude brings up an interesting view point:

Quote
This game of exclusivity and timed-exclusivity is really getting ridiculous.

Which means "not an impossibility" basically?

Of course... Time exclusives.

Once the 1 year agreement comes close to expiring... they'll always make the announcements. They'd be mad not to.

The 360 version itself I seem to recall having its own technical problems, and even the battle screens had to run at essentially SD resolution to achieve a solid 60FPS. With TOSE rumored to be behind this port, I remain incredibly cautious about this.  Still, I'll be waiting for reports on the port quality, since the disc swapping on the 360 version sounds really terrible. I wish they'd  just port this thing to the PC.

It appears the Japanese version comes with both audio tracks, several languages for the screen text, and the aesthetic changes made to the non-JP releases (wonder if they're selectable).

Finally, it's about time SO4 makes it's way over to the PS3. Heres hoping that it actually makes it to America!

And if it doesn't... just import it! English text still included. Win.

English menus though? Or just english subtitles. :/  Also it's retailing at like the equivalent of 90 USD in japan. :/ I didn't even pay that much for a game when I bought Tales of Destiny DC Collector's Box. >__<

Well, the game supposedly includes more language options (like French, German etc.) and so I think it would be stupid if those didn't include menus as well... would make it very hard to navigate for non-english/non-japanese speakers. And that wouldn't be very international.
