Judith is so awesome that they dyed her hair pink and put her in Star Ocean 4!

I was just getting ready to say..... long ears, spear-like weapon (though a staff in this one), *gulp* loosely worn clothes Lips Sealed....really supports that whole former Tales staff working in tri-ace thing.

On a side note, with all these alluring characters, I really hope the seperate endings (if any) are more satisfying than the ones in SO3.

New game play videos and I must say this game excels in... HAIR ANIMATION! Oh and the battles look good too.

EDIT: Also people on game trailers really don't have any idea what they're talking about. I shouldn't have bothered commenting and reading comments on game trailers like youtube is a waste of time.

Apparently they're really working on changing the interface in the US version:

Please let there be downloadable content that lets us use the original character portraits and menus.

what the crap? this better just be an option in the menu that you can change. i'll admit the CG isn't too bad overall, but i kinda like the pastel look of the anime menus over the SRS BUSINESSES look of the CG menus.

now, if they made the CG even better, i might not mind... (see most characters in FFXII other than vaan, or the afro dude from FFXIII)

It makes sense. I mean, Americans are highly allergic to the anime style.

The story scenes will apparently have CG portraits to replace the anime ones. That's a relief. Smiley

As long as everything is matching, I suppose there's no point in worrying about it. I guess I just had some lingering fears from Tales of Hearts' half-assed CG job, but I need to remember that we're dealing with entirely different beasts. The guy has a point, CG may actually fit the game better given the cutscenes...

The perplexity of an absurd delusion.

It doesn't bother me. I figure it's just an inevitable consequence of the game going from one culture to the other. I'm going to shrug my shoulders, buy the game, and play it because it's Star Ocean. That's what's important to me.

Edit: There. Happy now?

fixed.

It's definitely not something that will make me skip buying the game. I just like the anime portraits better. That's why I'm hoping for a downloadable version of the original menus.

If there's one thing the company likes, it's money. They know they'll get sales if they DLC it (since there's no money having to code it since it's already there). Wink

They'd be stupid not to do it.

Snippets from a Game Informer review (7.25):

Quote from: NeoGaf
- Shaky start and long introduction. They said it doesn't pick up until around 3 hours, but when it does, it feels like you're pulling out of a train wreck.
- First combat scenario doesn't show up until 20 to 30 minutes in.
- There's a "pervert claim". So I'm guessing one of the female characters is going to start labeling someone a pervert. (Edge...)
- Some drama out of the story, but still has a fun side to it.
- They love the battle system.
- AI's good.
- The voices sometimes don't match the mouth.

Quote:
Concept: A prequel story that details mankind's departure from Earth.

Graphics: Sharp texturing and colorful worlds sadly set for choppy animations.

Sound: Decent voice work is joined by a highly cliched and fairly irritating score.

Playability: Combat is easy to handle and loaded with depth. Field movement is far too sensitive, which causes problems in tight areas.

Entertainment: It never quite reaches the highs of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, but this is a nice addition to the series.

Replay Value: Moderate
Highly cliched and irritating score? From what I've heard of the music, it's pretty good. Naturally, I haven't played the game yet, but these guys bashed SO3's OST as well, and I loved that game's soundtrack.

I never much cared for GI. As I stated on GameFAQs, their tastes differ a lot from mine, as evidenced by their dislike of the Tales series and bashing reviews towards even decent-scored games. Not that their review matters much to me, I'm confident that I'll enjoy the title.

Thoughts on this?
