SO2 PSP is a plain port with new anime FMVs replacing the old ones. The only remake is SO1 PSP.

Go for Star Ocean 2 PSP, it's the better game and the one that is the most faithful to the original (more in the lines of "enhanced port too).

Star Ocean 1 remake... avoid it like the plague.

That's a little harsh. I mean, as far as the SO1 remake goes. It's worth playing if you haven't played or didn't like the SNES version. Though, I imagine there'd be apprehension if you can't afford it or none of your friends have it. But, hey, I guess there's no accounting for taste on my side of the computer screen.

I think I'll play it safe and get SO2. Right now its a money issue, but I eventually plan to get both, as I havent played either one, and they both look pretty good. Thx~
