...both listed with a release date of Sept. 30th.

Please SO2, have a brand new localization. VP1's was adequate enough to leave intact for the PSP port, but SO2's was a total trainwreck. Surely, if Square can retranslate FFIV three times, surely they can do it once for SO2...

It is not the same, cause Voice Actors are different from just text, though I do think they SHOULD kill whoever did claudes VA (COME HERE BARNEY!)

well, they retranslated FFT, and that game had a MUCH better PS1 localization than SO2 did (sadly enough).

I'm not sure I really understand what's going on in this thread, the voice actors weren't the only problem. SO2 had one of the most bone-dry literal translations I've ever seen in a video game.

But really, the old voice acting was so bad that it was good. But I guess FFT's text translation falls under the same thing...

I guess so.. But the VAs in SO2 are the most disturbing IMO

no, no. FFT's translation was mostly decent, just sounding a bit stilted in a japanese sort of way. well, and there were a bunch of flubs, like, say, the dragon skill "fire bracelet". but there were also a bunch of cool-sounding and memorable lines and whatnot.

SO2's translation was just plain bad, bad, bad. and the voice acting isn't so bad it's good, it's so bad it's terribly, gut-wrenchingly horrendous. i don't understand how this is possible... they could have hired, say, *me* to do all the voices, including the female characters, and it probably would have been miles better... and i'm just some random schmoe with no voice acting experience whatsoever. it just happens to be funny sometimes, which is its only saving grace.

SO1 FTW! Grin
Except it isn't as much played as SO2. No-one talks about SO1 and everyone doesn't like SO3 from what I can tell. Why? Cry
I loved both of those games

Much better, but harder to read.

Any who, I'm just looking forward to the game.
