Look at this picture. Its a Picture of Star Ocean 2 and there is Ratix on it. Also it has been said that there will be new playable Heroes in Star Ocean 2......so Ratix could be one.

I think that's a mistake, or the image is being misinterpreted without context of the event. SO2 takes place 20 years after SO1, I doubt Ratix would still look as if he hadn't aged a day...

Hes not human maybe its taking longer for him to age. Well the information is that there are new playable characters and i dont think that they will create new character rather taking some of Star Ocean 1 as a Fan Service.

Its all speculation, but there is still hope left ^^

I'm not sure what to think about the remakes, tri-Ace is most definitely not involved considering they let go of most of their 2D staff 6 years ago and are only concerned about cutting edge games. SO4 is imo very likely multiplatform for both XBox360 and PS3 and will only be finished sometime after they are done with Infinite Undiscovery for XBox360.

Also, regarding the new character design...

Someone has to be supervising it...

At any rate, the pre-rendered background has a very SO2 feel to it.

The portrait really sucks, but star ocean series artwork has never been all that good in the first place. Tongue

Yeah, that portrait really bothers me; It seems so cheap that it looks exactly like something I would have drawn myself a few years ago, which is not a good sign. I loved Star Ocean 1 partly for its' odd stylistic charm, and always felt put off by SO2's visual style... Still, if they manage to improve the battle system - and not just recycling SO2's one entirely verbatim - it'll definitely appeal more.

I highly doubt Ratix would get a playable cameo in SO2... It'll probably be someone new altogether, or heaven forbid, Perisie.

Yes, Square-Enix's tri-Ace-dedicated producer Yamagishi surely does something like that. =P In any case I found it telling enough that the VP PSP port was based off the Japanese version which lacked improvements added after that (being able to adjust all your characters armor instead of just the battle party as well as being informed when you change Lenneth's weapon from a sword to a bow)...

I can't believe they changed the way Ratix looks so drastically...He's supposed to have long white hair...

As nice as a remake of SO1 is, I'd much rather see it done with more of an SO3 battle system. Nothing against the SO2 system, but it just seems a little outdated to me at this point.

Ratix's new look really bothers me. But here's to hoping the other characters didn't get butchered so badly. I'm looking forward to seeing Fear's , since I don't think I've ever seen official art of her (and some other SO1 characters) other than the one game profile shot.

A lot of ppl bashed tol for not adding too much to what we had (I mean for battles.), so I hope this game doesnt copy so2's battle system w/o adding new stuff to battles.

Am I the only one thinking both remakes are ONCE AGAIN going to be destroyed by TOSE ? These guys can't do a singe remake properly.

Call me a troll, but I can already see lag and fu***** long load times.

Long loading times are to be expected of a PSP game. ISOing the game speeds them up a little but not by much. Every PSP game I've played has lag, so that is to be expected too.

I'm not just talking about loading times. Look at all the ports TOSE have been doing so far :

- FFIV - V - VI PSX : Sound deteriorated. And loading times, all right.
- Chrono Trigger : LOADING TIMES. FRIGGING LONG LOADING TIMES. It destroyed the whole thing, seriously.
- FFI&II PSX : okay I guess, no real complaints
- Front Mission 1st : annoying loading times, especially when there's a damn battle screen loading every 10 seconds.
- FFI&II GBA : okay too
- FFIV - V - VI GBA : sound deteriorated, slowdowns (especially in FFIV v1.0 or in FFVI's airship sequences)... we can blame it on the GBA hardware, though...
- Valkyrie Profile : Lenneth : Blur. Blur. And Blur too. Not to forget loading times, especially when loading the /\ menu
- FFT : the most recent and probably the most crappiest of the bunch. Without playing the original UMD (thus not knowing if loads times bad or anything) : crappy sound. (they just removed the reverb effect, and yet it destroys the way the thing sounds. Music, sound effects...), slowdowns... HELL, even the PS1 version, when played with the PSP' built-in PS1 emulator plays way better.

The UMD format is crappy, right.  But you can't deny TOSE has a big part in these fiascos.

(I'm such a bitch, I should just shut up and wait until SO1&2 come out >_>)

removed the reverb?? are you serious? that's like, fully half of what makes FFT's soundtrack great. i can't imagine something like, say, antipyretic without reverb.
