Hopefully the 3DS isn't region-locked, otherwise English-speaking Tales fans will be screwed over. Of course, looking at the DSi... well, I'd say we're out of luck.

Yeah I guess it'll be region locked.

That still gives you Americans a fair chance to play the game though. Here in Europe we never even got Abyss on ps2. Sad

btw, out of curiosity.

If I buy an imported American DSI, will that, living in the Netherands and all, give me problems with the online capabilities in some way or another? Or should it work just as fine as a DSI I bought in this region?

I liked Tales of the Abyss, I think it had the best story of any *English* Tales game. Yeah the game had bugs but on a normal "no guide 1st play" run you wouldn't experience them.

Tales of the Abyss wasn't my favorite, English language or otherwise, but that wouldn't stop me from buying it on the 3DS.

Here's to hoping the system is region free. If it isn't I might have to get a Japanese one...

I'll be a very sad man if the system itself is region locked. That's the main reason I haven't bought a DSi (or DSi XL) yet. I don't mind the DSi Shop being region locked, I can live with that (I suppose), but the fact that I can't buy foreign carts for my portable when I sometimes do as much international travel as I do... that's just a deal breaker.

Surprised to see so many people complaining about this, since I was under the impression that people wanted an enhanced port of ToA. But maybe only one or two people wanted that and I extrapolated it onto everyone.

WANT.

I know I'm looking forward to it, even with the slim chance of a localised version being released in Aussieland. Like Carnivol, I too hope the system itself isn't region-locked, so I can get the game anyway if it never hits below the equator (hee hee).

Given Namco's history, I think many of us are just cautious about it. Are we too jaded for Jade?

I'm usually one of those people that never stop whining about Tales ports, but this one I will actually buy, just because I'm such an Abyss fanboy. At least if the 3DS isn't regionlocked. Heck, if it is, I might not get the system at all, depending on the homebrew scene.

Eh, they probably wanted it on an HD system.

Mystic Artes will probably look cool in 3D, anyway.

Not too sure how I feel about this one, whether it's because I have no plans on getting a 3DS or because I've played Abyss to death already....regardless, it'll be interesting to see how(if) they incorporate all the mechanics from the ps2 version(ie Shortcuts, Item requesting in battle, ovl'ing...)...that and seeing the environment in 3D.
