Xillia beta version

So lol @ xillia having content cut from it. PS3 is teh beta version, fanboyism, etc.
So for reals, that would be nice to have another abyss on our hands and the English version gets the "complete" version.

As long as Japan doesn't get a Xillia F that's Japanese only (assuming we get Xillia at all)

Yeah, you should put "complete" in quotes for Abyss, since that's probably one of the most rushed "second acts" (or whatever; the whole thing after "shit just went down hardcore", like FF7 after the Northern Crater, etc) I've seen in an RPG. The only "real" dungeons at that point (post-Absorption Gate) are the floating island, the tower at the bottom of the map, and the final dungeon (which isn't even THAT long). I think they had to cut corners to save on space. It's so much better-looking than Symphonia was from a technical standpoint (I think Symphonia is better creatively), and certainly light-years ahead of Legendia (which was like turning PSX-quality sprites into PS2 models of the exact same size, zooming out, and putting a really annoying blurry filter over the whole thing). So I think if Abyss was a two-disc game, they could've increased the story-to-gameplay ratio a little more. It's not like Namco's never done it before (Xenosaga, yo).
This is the first I've heard of Xilia being a "beta" version, but then, I heard it wasn't that long. This is their first "real" PS3 Tales (since Graces F and Vesperia are upgraded/bugfixed ports), so I can forgive them. Hell, it's still longer than Tempest, and from what I've heard it's really good, so I'm hoping it gets a US release in any situation (that involves bugfixes if need be).

MADNESS. Every JRPG needs a Golden Saucer! *has a save right outside of Nam Cobanda in Vesperia right now, but is going to grade farm once he loads it up in a couple minutes*

Eh, I don't want another Marvel vs. Capcom 3 case. It'd be more convenient to release the lost content as DLC, unless there's just that much content missing. I just think it's wasteful to spend more of your money on a finished version of a game you already bought. (and that's why I waited for Ultimate MvC3)

Well, if you didn't buy the Japanese version of xillia, then you should be good and not have to buy the same game twice and just wait for the "complete" English version like with abyss. Honestly I think the 3DS version was made more for Japan (never got an "international" edition) and Europe (never got it at all) more than North America (we got the "complete" version).

It's ridicules to call any version of a game "beta", the moment the game has left the door its gone gold, simple as that.
Every game ever released is unfinished on some level, heck look back at the old HL2 documentary book, "Raising the Bar" a good 45% of the stuff in the episodes was based off of things originally conceived for HL2.
If Namco decides to re-release another version for a different platform with extra side-quests / characters / encounters / whatever it's not because that version is the finished version of the game, but rather because they have extra time to do extra stuff that just might get them extra money... This is no different then when Tales of Symphonia was re-released for the PS2 way back when.

The difference in content between Symphonia GC and PS2 was pretty minor. PS2 was more like the "patched" version. They added a few new artes, allowed you to gamble (I guess Nintendo didn't want children to go to Vegas after playing ToS?), but from what I've read the changes were mostly just smoothing-patches without any sort of fundamental-difference in how the game plays (outside of being able to use Unison Attacks more often since it takes less work to fill the gauge and there are more Unison Artes).

The Street Fighter series is a prime example of incomplete game releases, usually due to deadlines.
