Well, It has been confirmed that their will be two editions of Tales of Hearts some time ago, but which are you going to purchase?
Also, here's some info about the different versions and release dates from abbysalchronicles.com...
Quote
A new article from GPara reveals the Tales of Heart's release date, and Rpgmonkey just found out the preorder bonuses for the games. The CG version will have a visual and original sound track as a preorder bonus, and the Anime version, as usual, will have a Dramatic DVD preorder bonus. The release date will be on December 11 of this year, with a price of 6,650 Yen (for each, approximately $61). You'll notice that Gpara has uploaded some pretty high quality screenshots of the same ones we put up before, and they've been uploaded to the gallery. The gameplay screenshots are to be added at another time.

I'm going to buy the CG Edition my self to try something new. I thought it looked scary before but after observing some more pictures it looked interesting to check out. Also, the preorder bonus soundtrack sounds more valuable than the dramatic DVD since I can find it uploaded some where on the internet most likely.

I also allowed for editing of your choice in the poll if you are unsure.

Eh, I don't import games. If they localize it, I hope it's the anime version.

As a collector, I'll probably get both at some point, when they can be had for reasonable prices. From a preference side, well... uh... the more I see of them, the more I think neither has an advantage over the other (I don't really like the look of either of them). If I had to pick one, it'd probably be the anime one for consistency's sake with the rest of the series.

I hate it when games companies do this. I just want the game. Now in order to get the game "complete" i have to fork out $122 US. If i want to buy the games in australia it'll cost me double that. This is the exact same reason that i hate the pokemon games. Namco are just money grubbing *****tards.

Uuhhh? What?
The game is "complete" in BOTH versions!  Shocked
Dont say Namco are any kind of insult for this (you cna insult them for SO many things but not this) they are just trying to be innovative!
And this versions are nothing like the pokemon games ver, in there, the monsters you catch are different, whereas here the only difference is the cinematic scenes. (it only changes the visual aspect of that)

I wouldn't call this innovation. It's more like a gimmick. I voted for the animated one because I don't like the look of the cg cut scenes.

The Inomata fanboy inside me voted for the anime version. I'd vote for the last option if it wasn't so obvious that it will never happen.

I'd have to say the anime version too.  While I'm used to CG style like Final Fantasy, I can't help but enjoy the way Tales had done it all this time.

Actually I take that back. It's not even a gimmick. Games have had CG cut scenes since the psx. I bet this is just an experiment to see which is more popular. I really have nothing against CG. I just don't like the way they did it. There is just too much of a contrast between the concept art and the CG rendering. They didn't even have to make super realistic CG cut scenes either.

They said that they wanted to break the stigma that Tales = anime, but the fact is that for me, Tales does = anime. I can't seem to get comfortable with the look of the CG, the characters just look really awkward to me. I could see myself buying both versions (because I love collecting stuff/am silly), but as for my preference, it's certainly the anime version.

kohaku looks TERRIBLE in CG, if you ask me. also, how old is mr. METEORYTE supposed to be? because i'm pretty sure the CG makes him look way older than that. hmm.

odd, because the other two characters look almost exactly the same between anime and CG.

I'll get both on an emulator. If I like them, I'll buy it.

Fixed it =P
Anyway, I never knew the CG Edition would be treated so harshly compared to the anime one. It does come with the original sound track as a preorder bonus while the anime edition comes with the dramatic DVD which can probably found on Nico Video or Youtube and my Japanese comprehension is too low for making out what they say in it.

If, however I miss out on preordering it I will still be buying the CG Edition since I don't want  the whole Tales=anime thing to get dull because they look similar.

Anime style probably because I preferred the cartoony style that was consistent in the series. Moving on to more realistic proportions just doesn't make it feel like a Tales game at all.
