Vesperia, Discontinued?

Is it true? I've heard of people calling Toys 'R' Us and GameStop and being told that new ToV copies are no longer being manufactured. However, Amazon and GameStop still seem to have it listed in stock on-line, and as many as three GameStops in my area still seem to be carrying new copies.
I highly doubt they'd discontinue this game without giving it a budget release, but then again it wouldn't be unusual for this franchise either.

I don't know, but things are certainly weird lately. The tales.namco.com subdomain suddenly went down over a week ago and has yet to come back online, if it ever will.
They've yet to even get a system in place where people can redeem the code that came with the Vesperia CE to get their freebie. It's been 4 months since the game released already.

Yeah, I wonder what's up with the freebie. That Tales 10th Anniversary site (
www.talesrpg.com
) has yet to be updated, and it's already been months since both ToV and DoTNW came out. Maybe that subdomain going down means they're finally planning to do something with that talesrpg.com domain? (Hopefully that something doesn't involve a proverbial axe.)

I'd doubt they'd axe the Tales series in North America, putting so much money into Tales Brigade and all.
Moving TOSF into a forum.talesrpg.com or a talesrpg.com/forum would be a smart move (splitting the URL's over numerous sites isn't the best idea). Would explain the issues if they're also converting to vB or something (since the phpBB version they're using is close to being not supported anymore).
Plus, didn't Vesperia sell really well for Namdai, at least in the scope of a normal Tales of release?

For the US, it certainly seemed that way. It wasn't the runaway success the original Symphonia was, but it was still the second-best seller so far. I don't know how DotNW did, but the limited evidence (at least, in the form of internet discussion statistics) doesn't even seem to paint it getting close to ToV's numbers. That's a really poor measuring stick, but there have been no NPD numbers leaked that I'm aware of, so that's all I really have to go on. It's not comforting with that recent interview basically saying they feel Tales doesn't "sell well" here.
Regardless, it's a bit shocking that the "sequel" to Symphonia doesn't seem to be doing anywhere near what one might expect. You'd think it'd attract the thousands who liked the original; those who'd like to revisit their favorite characters again. The series is really hurting for another big hit to motivate and finance more localizations...
Anyway, if they did stop printing Vesperia, maybe retail sales have basically dried up to nothing worthwhile and they don't want to waste money doing more print runs. Not quite the old Atlus strategy, but fairly close. Still, the game never had a chance to even price drop, so who knows what extra numbers it could pick up when/if if that happened. A sale is still a sale, whether they net $40 or $15 from it...
Also, I'd agree with dropping the tales.namco.com subdomain and moving everything to talesrpg.com. It seems like a much better home for the series.
At the same time, it kind of frustrates me. talesrpg.com at least recognizes that "Tales of Destiny II" is really Tales of Eternia. Seeing that kind of stuff made me a feel a little more hopeful about the future for some reason. But these recent developments are a little troubling... :/

Guess they're planning to make it international. Europe never got Eternia until the PSP re-release, which was released here as Eternia, and not Destiny II.
But, yeah, it is really strange that basically all sites are dead
(That's not exactly brand building)

For what it's worth, Lunar thinks the Tales boards are going down due to a server issue (again).

If Namdai actually advertised the game decently, they'd get more sales. Hardly anyone I knew knew about Vesperia before I told them.

That why I am glad I only come here for Tales news; People here actually know what they are talking about when come to Tales and not just some random people that thinks they know whole lot just because they play Symphonia, Legendia, Abbys, and so on but really they haven't seen all on what tales is capable about outside those games.
Anyways I shouldn't be asking here and I don't want to make a topic about it just yet just in case Cless and them don't approval; I was thinking about this for quite some time and since I first join this forum like since the beginning. Also it been a long time but the front page are you ever going to re-design it ^_^; I know it was change once if I remember correctly but now that Tales of Phantasia is almost finish isn't time to give a new look for the new project; well not only the new project just tales series itself. It's just something I feel like wanting to do for this site but couldn't convince myself to ask up until now ^_^
Here are my idea and plan if you decide if you want to do it
News: Well you guys can post tales news and video in front page instead of just Tales Project progress; doing that people will be well informed and updated on their Tales News
Project: Project your doing and its progress
Guide: One time I tried to do a Images walkthrough for Tales of Phantasia but I fail because doing alone was hard; but maybe I can do it now if someone helps me; I wont say its a walkthrough more of like helping people getting through game if they want to get 100%. Story, Character, Item, Equipments, Side Mission, and Bestiary. I know this will take some time but it will well be worth it in the end. I'll donate to help see thing plan go through if you decide to do it.
AnimeManga: Tales of Animation and Tales of Manga
Miscellaneous: Music, Toys, Arts
Forum: Almost forgot about this; if there was never this forum I couldn't have written this
I know this is a dumb idea but if it doesn't go through then I can say I at least tried to ask?

^ It's a fine idea, but with all the sites that already post Tales news and how much Cless has on his plate already, I'm not sure that there's any real benefit to transforming Phantasian Productions in that way.

seriously, the comments from them japanese guys that they're disappointed that tales doesn't sell well here are almost infuriating. helloo, you don't advertise!! i'm pretty sure even FF3us had TV adverts, let alone FF7 that propelled them into moneyprintingville in the US. if they advertised a bit more, so the general fanbase of FF learns about the Tales series, there JUST MAY BE more sales.
btw how do star ocean games sell here? certainly at least everyone who buys star ocean ought to know/be told about tales.

^ This. If you want any product to be successful in the north american market there has to be advertising. I don't care how good your product is. If no one knows about it no one buys it.

Plus, unlike Tales Channel, Namdai USA decides to get their website for the game either right before the launch (with no "teaser" site), or later (but half-assed, like Talesrpg.com's section for Vesperia and Dawn).

That's likely the case, considering the forums had been acting up more and more leading up to this current downtime. However, it's a bit troublesome that they've been taking so long to resolve this issue without informing us of anything.

Maybe Namco Hometek is finally running out of money for good, they've been in the red for too long already. =P

That means no Tales for the USA, right ?
.
Can't say I'm happy if it turns out to be true.
