Vesperia an hour later...

Without sounding too childish...ILOVEITILOVEITILOVEIT!!!!
Looks fantasic on my TV. Music is great. VOICED SKITS!! But somehow I've seem to have lost touch fighting.
I think it's cuz they switched buttons around. Remember how X was a Normal attack and O was an Arte? Take those same buttons and flip them on the 360 controller: So "A" the accept button is an Arte and whatever the "Cancel" button is does an Arte. Slightly tricky to get a hold of but thankfully you can switch buttons in the System options.

They left the Japanese control scheme in? That's great news!

The demo was mapped to normal Japanese controls in battle, but not out. I don't know if they changed that in the final. I won't have the game for at least a couple more days.

Trust me Cless if you love Tales then this game is definately a keeper.
As far as OUT of battle controls go - for simplicity's sake I'll use colors.
The Green one "A" is Talk/Search/Accept
While the Red button "dur...B?" is Cancel
And for the record I'll give you more of a teaser...they kept Ring a Bell [I KNOW!!]

haha that button thing REALLY tripped me up too. It took several tries before I got used to it, but it still feels slightly akward. But good thing theres the cust. options, or else Id be pitiful....I couldn't change em though in the demo.

When going into this, I was hoping it would be "What Abyss should have been for me."
Well, I can say it's looking that way for me and I'm loving it so far. These are comments I made when talking about in on my blog.
Free Run no longer feels broken for me. It's not going to be a complete life saver all the time.
While I'm at it, it's more fun than I had with Tales of the Abyss, particularly in battle.
It's beautiful. Okay, so it won't compare to "that certain game with the Polish pianist" but it's lovely. That's all I have to say.
Music...well, it's better but I haven't heard all of it, so I can't have a final say.
Estelle. Before the release, I got the thought of "Estelle...if Mint Adnade used a sword." Well, it's becoming that way. She is certain a sweet girl and I can't help but find her adorable. Oh yeah, the fact that one of Estelle's attachment happens to be Mint's Cap is backing up that thought (Oh yeah, I am so going to make that...yeah, I peeked into the guide I actually bought already, which is surprising since I haven't really bought a guide book for a long time and that I peeked into it already!).
Yuri...he's an interesting character, particularly for his "outside of the law" actions.
It's looking good for me!

Breaking the law?! WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN! THE CHILDREN I SAY!!! These games are such a bad example for the children. You should all be ashamed for condoning such games!

uh-oh! i bet he's lost the protection of his judge. does that mean life bottles don't work for him, either?
btw, that control scheme thing is pretty stupid. it's always been that attack and accept are the same button, and artes and cancel are the same button. and of course, originally it was that the bottom button (B on SNES, X on PS, A on 360) is the latter, and the right button (A on SNES, O on PS, B on 360) is the former. first they have to switch it around to be different from the japanese sometime in the PSX era, and now this?

Yuri is the hottest name ever.
Probably won't be able to play this though for some time mainly due to the fact I have a PS3 instead of a 360 and I only intended to have two next gen consoles. On the other hand, Nintendo's new move is tempting me to ditch my Wii.

Better than getting Yellow and Red cards losing your stats and items.

what! then why'd you get a PS3? i mean, i bet they'll announce an MGS4 360 port any day now. unless you count it as a donation towards science with folding@home...

So "A" the accept button is an Arte and whatever the "Cancel" button is does an Arte.
Why would you need two arte buttons? That's really strange...

If it was the law that you had to jump off a cliff, would you still obey it? 8D

This is why there exists an option to customize your buttons. =D Does it really matter what the defaults are?

Lol you're not the only one. I think you might have to get a certain key item to enable it. *has no idea* =/
While we're at it, here's another "nooby" question... How do you target allies with healing spells? Is it the same as Abyss? Maybe I'm too slow at moving the cursor before Estelle finishes casting? T__T;;

yes, because if the defaults suck, everyone who buys the game has to go change it. that, or stick with the silly settings. if they did it right, it would be one person going to the trouble of doing it instead of thousands, or more.

I don't mind. The process only takes up a few minutes of an RPG's 60+ hour playtime.

Oh yes most definitely. You should always follow the law with out question. I definitely would push my children off the cliff if this law existed. Remember children to always be mindless zombies and not question anything at all
