They were never subbed in the first place. Subbed skits/face chats didn't appear in Tales games until Destiny 2. That was one of the problems when translating ToP-PS1, creating subtitles where subtitles didn't exist.

No, no, I'm not talking about the subs, I'm talking about the full skits. They weren't on the US release of Eternia, where they?

So, so... any of the Phantasia Productions tools work on it? Anything that can be rescued for it?

Of course (probably) a undubt would have to be done by someone else somewhere else, but... perhaps phantasia productions knowledge could play a part on it.

And I wasn't talking about the full skits, I was talking about the map hints.
Like, for example, if you pressed Select before going to get Keele from Mt. Mintche, Farah's face would pop up and say:
"Mountain climbing is no easy task... Make sure you come prepared" or something to that effect.
Those obviously weren't in English in the Japanese version, so someone would need someone to sub those.

If they can sub this I wouldnt be surprised they would add the skits that didnt come to USA

It would give some work though, and knowledge of the game directories, or tools to work on it would really help and speed it up. Hopefully it's similar enough (or even compatible) with ToP PSX and ToD PSX.

I wonder if throughhim413 is interested Tongue

Alright, I've waited forever to release this because I wanted to make it into a translation "patch" first, not a 271MB zip folder. Anyway I've lost my patience. Grin

The translation is for the PSP version of ToE-J. It translates all the text in the script, but leaves the menus and skits in Japanese text. Of course, dialog and battle voices are completely in Japanese audio Cool. The English script is the same as the one in the PSP-EUR version (the PS1 port).

Since I have no experience in ASM hacking (or actual game translation for that matter), I was wondering if someone here could make two .PPF patches for me with the files I'll provide (since the programs I tried don't work on my XP). Unless someone can tell me what program I could use to make a ppf patch from PSP ISOs? (I tried something similar to ppf-o-matic, which wouldn't work)

Anyway, one patch will have the instrumental opening, and the other will have the original Japanese song version. (Both will have skits removed; if you want to watch them, then pop in the UMD). Anyone willing to help? (Patch making takes 1 minute once the ISOs are ready).

EDIT2: Translation files can be downloaded hereWink

Hell, let's hope someone helps you.

I'll get a PSP soon, so the existence of such version would definitely be a plus.

6 downloads and no offers to help yet? >_>

C'mon someone, please help me make this translation fix (legally) available for many more people to enjoy. A 1MB patch is waaaay nicer than 200MB file swaps.  Wink

perhaps they thought it was the final undub?

Anyway... I tracked down the undubbers lair:

-> http://kotoba.forums.free.fr/index.php?showforum=4

Try to contact one of the guys behind it, they already undubbed Abyss, and tried (?) to undub Legendia... who knows if someone could help you. I wish you luck.

They quit the undubbing scene it seems. At least according to this thread.

And Jesus Christ can you say elitism? Half of those games had pretty good English voices.

they did, but they hope the forums to be a "undubing community", the guys are still around and have tutorials, etc.

Who knows, they might help our friend here. Other choice would be chasing after the nicks who did FF7CC undub (they weren't the same guys), since it was the first PSP undub I know off. the guys in that forum were also doing ff7cc undub though so they should have some understanding of how it works. (of course though, the structure of a square-enix game and a namco one should be very different.

Erm... whose?

I only see FFXII and Persona 3 as being good dubs.

I'd still rather play, at least persona, in Japanese though.

Rogue Galaxy (in fact, I prefer the American voices by far), Tales of the Abyss, and assuming the voice actors for Crisis Core are the same they used in Advent Children, and the other ones are as good, then that one is not bad at all either. The rest of the games, I didn't play nor did I watch any videos with the voices, so I can't tell.

Heh, I still haven't played Rogue Galaxy Tongue

I was planning on playing the undub version too, but if that's so I'll look into it.

Tales of the Abyss... I prefer the Japanese voices by a mile, even because I like the voice acctress who did Tear very much from other endeavors.

Crisis Core should be good too, but I prefer that one in particular in Japanese, for sure.

EDIT: In Tales of the Abyss undub you have the skits voiced so it's a lot better from that alone Cheesy
