You're supposed to know how to look up kana before you start playing a Japanese game, silly.

Maybe giving attitude to someone who helped you and not thanking them either is kinda rude?

If you got what you wanted, no gratitude, and whined back, you need to grow some humility.

Sad I dunno, this sounds like a punishment thing we dont want in a forum like this, since, as I have understanded, we are all here to have fun Shocked but oh well it is just me who had that impression, nothing against you or Nae

I think I should say something here.

The thing is...if you're going to import a Japanese language RPG and play it, despite not having a good grasp on the language, people still expect you to at least learn hiragana and katakana.  Otherwise, why even bother doing it in the first place?  That's the problem we have.  We got people asking for help with this particular part in Tales of Rebirth (seems like it's always this) and not every forum is going to have Japanese text available for view.

Seriously, it really does help to learn hiragana and katakana.  I even used the same chart Cyllya created (which you can see right now in this topic) back in around 2001-2002 and I actually learned hiragana and katakana, which helps with getting around these import games (and this was before I got to know her through the forums in early 2003.  I was just one visitor to her Tales site back then and the site had something useful for my Tales obsession...the Japanese chart).  Oh yeah, learning hiragana and katakana is not hard.  It's nothing like learning calculus.  So, the answer is, "itoshikisora?"  In hiragana?  No problem!  I'll get back to my game and put it in.

What I'm trying to say is...you can go through the game using a guide but you still need to learn hiragana and katakana to at least be able to do something like find the Life Bottle on the item list or the Nurse spell on the spell list without wasting so much time trying each one.  It just helps to learn it.  That's what gogs, Cyllya, and I were saying.

It's not punishment as much as pointing out how stupid of a comeback that was, and at someone who helped you out.

It's very offensive to me to bitch back at someone helping you, and if you're gonna be ungrateful, don't say something stupid. If Nae thinks guides are so perfect, ask them to spell it. Don't waste people's effort and throw it back at their faces.

This isn't about expecting someone to learn kana. Nae asking for all sorts of favors in other threads without so much as a hint of thanks isn't very "fun environment" to me. Being dickish is like the last straw. I don't mock people who are nicer about these things, usually even go out of my way to help if I can. You don't see me having fun with an honest typo :p

If you're not gonna be grateful, fine, at least be civil. If you can't be civil, don't say something stupid.

i don't think gogs is mad at you, kevassa. he's mad at nae.

i can only assume nae missed the hiragana at the bottom of cyllya's post (i.e. the answer to his request) AND misinterpreted cyllya's comment as an insult. if so, now would be a good time to nae to show up in this topic Tongue

I don't like being called silly. At all. Joke or not. I am grateful for the information. And, Gogs, your comment was really childish. I know a bit of Kata, but not hira. I was kicked out of my Japanese classes before we got into it.

As far as I know, the sentence construction "well that's why you [X], silly" isn't supposed to be an insult.  In that sense, "silly" is a term of endearment.  Or, at least, it is in the US.  Cyllya was trying to be, um, what's the word...coquettish?  To get ruffled feathers over being called silly in that way, well, that's childish as well, isn't it?

Nope. I'm sensitive about that. Don't like being called names.
