Hmm... a little more interesting than the PS2 box, but still lacking something. I really do like how the American boxes have more vibrant colors.

That's not really a Japanese vs. American thing; the last few Tales games released here had Fujishima and Kazuto designs which were much more "standard anime" fare, using outlines and bright, poppy colors. If I recall, all of those were the same (or close to) the Japanese covers. Inomata's artwork is watercolored, the faded colors are just part of the medium.

Even putting aside my love for Inomata's artwork, I just love the composition of the cover.. all the recent Tales covers have been WAY too crowded in my opinion (giant faces, character collages). This one looks like a really well made movie poster.

Yes, I know the last few American boxes had non-Inomata designs and I realize Inomata uses the watercolor as a medium. I still hold on to my favoring of American box art. I did take into account the Japanese boxes of the Tales that came over here. The Japanese boxes are still a bit less colorful than the American boxes, excepting Destiny which was the same thing. Legendia's American box is easily more colorful than the Japanese box.
