Also confirmed:
Steadier frame rate and much less load times. No voiced skits. Still, this is going to be my personal killer app on the 3DS.

I hope (like always) they put in the option for Japanese voices. Then the skits would be voiced.

I'm reminded that I never actually finished Abyss even though it's one of my top favorites. I don't know how that happened. It won't sell me a 3DS right away, though, but I'll probably be buying the game anyway.
Now, if Konami US would announce Beyond the Labyrinth...I'll hope that hardware refresh and price drop comes sooner.

If it's going to be the EXACT SAME THING, I'd rather just play it on my PS2. Not that I own a 3DS, or even want one (not now, anyway). I just feel like, if a game's going to be ported, even from a console to a handheld, they should add content and give you a reason to buy it besides "omg you can take it with you." Maybe I'm just too old.

I disagree, having a game be portable makes it a lot easier to make a part of my life. I can play it during breaks, or when going to the bath room, or while something else is on the television. With a console game that pretty much is the only thing I can do.

If you're going to put something on a handheld, make it worth my while. ToA wasn't even a finished game. The whole thing post-Absorption Gate could've used more and longer dungeons. It just didn't explore the innovations to the combat system and graphical upgrades in the way it could have. This handheld version could've been their chance to finish garnishing the turkey, as it were.
I suppose it's a different thing, culturally, too. Handhelds are a lot more valuable in Japan 'cause of all the public transit. I play my PSP at home, sitting in a chair. I don't often take it out of the house. My DS, yeah, because I can fit it in my pocket and cartridges don't have loading times like UMDs do (saves faster, too, unless it's Dragon Quest).

Hmm.. I don't know if short endgame dungeons really warrants calling the game unfinished.. certainly some of its mechanics/design choices were outdated at best, but I definitely came away from it feeling like I played a full and complete game each time. Obviously it's not necessarily true, but one would hope that if the game really were 'unfinished' instead of just outdated even for 05/06, namdai would 'finish' it.
I'm more curious as to how it's going to look on the 3DS. Even supersampled @ 1920 x 1080 in pcsx2 it doesn't look all that fantastic, (there just isn't all that much
there
to render that could look impressive) but I feel like well done 3D effects could be something cool to look forward to. That wouldn't really make up for the lack of new content though. Unless it's gonna be some really mindblowing 3D, and the chances of that are quite slim. Has anyone heard anything about what exactly the 3D effects will comprise?

Yeeeaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! It's also coming to Europe!
Hope we also get graces, or that the US version won't be region locked.

Wouldn't you rather it have some new material @ least? I mean, he's got a point if it's the
exact
same thing, it wouldn't be as interesting as if it had new content, battle system, etc., of course.

Call me a hoe for big corporation, but for games I like I will buy every version :X I own FF4 on every console it was released for in the US, same with Chrono Trigger, and so on and so forth. I guess I should be thankful Namdai doesn't bring over that many Tales games cause with all the ports, rereleases, and remakes I'd have to spend a lot more money :X
