Another Tales game? Yay! It's about time they announced one.
...
*kills himself for what he just wrote*
As for the screenshots... I'm not that happy about it having Fujishima designs, actually. >__>
Didn't like the name "Vesperia". It sounds so strange.
And I really hope the main character is a girl... though with jRPGs you can never be sure. lol

I remember that when Legendia was revealed, they deceived people by cropping the initial teaser into a wide aspect before revealing the platform. It caused just about everyone to believe that it was a PSP game. But that said, it hardly matters now. All current hardware except the DS supports widescreen, so it's not a very good criteria to determine the platform, especially when the screens are this small.
That said, the cutscene pic had me fooled that it was an FMV. But now that I look at it again, it could be some rather fine cel-shading.
I hope direct screens of a decent resolution aren't that far off.

Namco is naming their games like black people name their kids. I can't wait for Tales of Shaneekwa.

Everything but HD consoles please.
Incredible, when the TOP40 in japan is made of mostly DS and Wii games and then 4 PS3 ones and 2 X360 ones. Still going that path with exclusives (with aparently bigger investment than ToS:KoR is getting, aparently) it's like being sadomassoquistic; specially with tales who is mostly a japanese franchise meaning they actually choose platforms considering their sales in there (ToS is the prime example, even having sold a bucketload outside japan)
Yet... Nobody threw us bones (gamecube owners) when we were stranded in a not-leading position last gen (and I could think of older examples); so I just can expect the same to befall others; but it never does.
Nothing in the photo is impossible for Wii, but the characters sure have detailed shadows; I still can't understand why Knight of Ratatosk doesn't feature them other than just simples lazyness; hell, we're getting a spinoff with recycled backgrounds, not that I bother, but this "vesperia" thing is a hard nail for me.
Also:
A roadmap released some months ago (uppon revealing ToS:KoR)
Hell, I hope it stays that way.

Another blog update on the teaser shown at Jump Festa. This guy says that after watching the video again,
the graphical quality is definitely PS3 or Xbox360
. He also says the voice for the main character seems to be Kousuke Toriumi as far as he could recognize.
We'll just have to wait and see for ourselves. Doesn't matter much to me where it goes though. I have HD.

I don't and I don't plan to own one so soon. (Sales -1) What pisses me most is not that; I mean, I don't have a PSP and I have no problems with the ports it's getting (and I'd buy them); thing is that Namco never threw bones at me, seeing consoles in second and third place getting all these "bones" better than my own totally pisses me; I've been in that position, and I just didn't get them; it was okay because it was business and all, but that only seems to apply to Nintendo consoles? talk about bad karma.
Hell, it pisses me that this "HD" game (if it is) has detailed shadows when they've been too lazy to do so on Knight of Ratatosk. The game also could have so much better graphics on Wii, but doesn't and it's ok, but it's not okay on other systems who'll sell less, so they actually make more effort there? Comes out half assed, really; and that's that my real query.
So, my console is leading and we get a spinoff with recycled scenarios who looks exactly like it's last gen counterpart whereas they do a next gen product with clear effort?
Kinda like; it sells bad on Nintendo "oh, third party's can't sell" when the other consoles are actually selling less, and the tendency with increasing userbase it's only going to get better; if it gets good games. Unfair, really, one-sided and parcial.
Not to mention that I think that a game on Nintendo platforms has more chances of being localized for westerners (this said to make it for a HD right now, they'd really need to sell it outside Japan, otherwise it's just masoquistic)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hesperus
Vesper is the Roman equivalent of Hesperus, the "evening star" or the planet Venus in the evening.
I suppose this is where they got Vesperia from considering how they name their "ia" ending Tales games..
Symphony (an elaborate instrumental composition) = Symphonia
Phantasm (a creation of the imagination or fancy; fantasy) = Phantasia
Legend (a nonhistorical story handed down by tradition from earlier times) = Legendia
Eternal (lasting forever) = Eternia

I saw the trailer, and from how the celshading looked, it was quite hi-res and smooth, as in the models themselves appeared quite hipoly. Coupled with your normal background art, I had to say it looked quite swank.

High res=HD consoles
I hope not though.

To be honest and i hate to say this but they should really let PS3 have the title, I'd definitely say I'm a Nintendo fan, but PS3 was a completely flop(due to minor hardware issues and a huge lack of games maybe in 2009 they will have a better range:P) and Sony even admitted it which really surprises me considering they always lie. PSP is finally doing better but not good enough to compete with the DS
anyway enough of my fanboyism.
DS: No chance obviously, Innocence is as good as the DS is gonna get
PS3: Equal chance too Wii
Xbox360: I really highly doubt it, Namco isn't the biggest fan of microsoft(plus i'm still yet to see any tales games on a Xbox)
Wii: Equal chance too PS3
PSP: Very unlikely but always a possibility
It's quite obvious that PS3 could pull Vesperia with ease and so could Wii, as much as people go on and on about how weak the Wii is having own one and a PS3 i can safely say Wii is more than capable of handling it. For example people kept complaining how the PS2 was so much more powerful than the GC when in fact nintendo never had a game that really used the GC's hardware(though i know PS3 is more powerful than Wii) until Resident evil 4 came out and so many people were blown away by it's "graphics"
of course this came to no surprise to me that the GC was capable of this. Anyway i feel very strongly about it either on the PS3 or Wii, as i said i think sony needs it more but meh, the bigger question is if it will be in english, we all know namco tends to not translate their games most of the time.

Earning exclusives doesn't work that way... "hey look, poor console it's selling bad let's do a exclusive because they're being honest" this is business not charity and that's what always happened when my consoles didn't lead, nothing to do about that since it's fair; what's wierd is if it starts happening the other way.
And Microsoft also needs more, in Japan; biggest flop out there really, more than PS3 (and tales influences the japanese market, not the western one).
And... Wii getting a cheap ass recycled scenarios sequel and the HD's who are selling crap in japan taking a new game? that's like spitting on it when afterwards they might even say that a spinoff didn't sold more than their "main entry" on some other console.
I'm not against a game for the HD's mind you, I'm against KoR being the worse deal, as always a spinoff when other console who's in second or third in the race get's a main game.

Dunno, didn't saw it... but Chuc just indicated it seemed HD'ish to him, if that's any indication... even if Wii could handle it in SD, if it's HD it's not for it.

Hmmm, it should be clear as water that GC was considerably more powerful than PS2; it always was, even if it wasn't pushed to the extent PS2 was, this said... PS2 only was because it was weak and had such a big lifespan, and thus, Wii needs more than than PS3 does (being pushed).
Also, if the game is in a Nintendo console, it has bigger chances of being translated and released overseas, Nintendo is good in that area (they helped a lot with ToS localization)

With the way the market currently is right now, I'd bet on a multiplatform release.

Xbox360: I really highly doubt it, Namco isn't the biggest fan of microsoft(plus i'm still yet to see any tales games on a Xbox)
I think the following titles shows that Namco has more than enough love for the 360:
-Pac-Man C.E. (XBLA)
-Eternal Sonata (Timed exclusive on 360, no words on any localization plans for PS3 port)
-Ace Combat 6 (Currently exclusive to 360)
-Beautiful Katamari (Currently exclusive)
-Idol M@ster (Exclusive title with insane amounts of DLC. People just keep on buying the DLC + sequel is coming in February)
I'd say this is most likely either multi (PS3/360 + PC?) or another 360 (Possibly timed exclusive).
Basically, if they jump onto the PS3, they'll be competing with past big names from Sony.
The 360 is currently not "hot", but it seems like sales are good enough for it to make up for its own existence in Japan at the moment. But the advantage is that you'll be gambling on a brand/name building that will serve as an investment in the future of the system.
Of course, the thing I always wonder about when it comes to 360 titles is Microsoft and localization.
Microsoft seems to be giving quite a lot of support to the localization of bigger titles, which means that any ports to other platforms have a very tiny chance of getting brought overseas, simply because no company is interested in "re-localizing" a game (as licensing issues could be preventing them from using translations and audio from the original version's localization).
Anyway, no matter what platform it'll be on... I just hope it wont be the Tempest of console Tales.

Pff, because the name sucks or just that it makes no sense?
Kurosuzaku: "Vesper is the Roman equivalent of Hesperus, the "evening star" or the planet Venus in the evening."
vesper/uesper/hesperus (evening) is where we got the word "west." If you knew the Greek Hesperides at all, you'd know they're called the "daughters of the evening/west." If you knew French or Spanish, you'd know ouest and oeste. Nobody expects anyone to know that, but no offense, maybe try reading up before you diss something... And if it just plain sucks, what's new? Legendia is way more craptastic in my mind.

*tries finding a joke in regards to milking the Tales series*
Okay, I don't have any jokes. Anyway, wow, they really aren't slowing down, though I still wish they would. Though, the idea of playing as a female lead is getting my interest up. Please let it be the case.
Somehow, I'm also hoping for and sort of expecting it to go multiplatform.
