I prefer Team Symphonia to Team Destiny. Just sayin'.
Excluding the minority who imported games I'm sure nearly 100% of the Tales fans outside Japan (or rather Asia since ToD2 was translated to Chinese/Korean) do so. See what I did there?

lol, it would be easier to say "everyone who doesn't have a choice does so". *runs away*

I prefer Team Destiny, but I love both teams' games and I get kinda annoyed everytime a discussion about "which team does that thing better than the other" starts. =/

Oh, and I agree that the hi-ougi cut-ins are getting too "awesome" and starting to get annoying. It's nothing compared to ToP and ToD's hour-long spell pauses, but it's still bad and totally unnecessary.

I wonder if someday they'll use full motion anime sequences instead of just static pictures. Tongue

Did they really use anime sequences in special attacks? o_o

But if I recall, AT's battles are turn based, aren't they? If so, I wouldn't mind long animations for special attacks at all (unless they're TOO long and need to be constantly repeated, that is).

Having the action stop for a second or two isn't that big of a deal in turn-based battles, since the action in them is stopped every time you need to decide which action to take anyway. But in real time battles, sometimes it really ruins the fun.

And if Ar Tonelico's battles are not turn-based, ignore this post.

Well youa re right about that, that since in turn based a little of stopage doesnt matter,
But I mean that you are right that cut ins COULD have been a bit better, and animated, I mean for instance in Destiny R instead of seeing a static image coming at you, you see an animation of Stahn Shouting his lungs out coming at you, and you "enter" his eye, and see Stahn PWNing everyone with Gouna Kaijinken, all in a second, no stopage!

I'll be buying this.

Hopefully the achievements are well thought-out.

To be honest, I'm not too happy with seeing text boxes in this game.

I have to agree with you. Perhaps it'll be like ToS: DotNW, where the more important scenes are carried out in a more cinematic style, and with minor scenes with the text bubbles.

yeah, i have to admit, i'm starting to like the "text at the bottom of the screen kind of like subtitles" approach way more.

If that was the case, there probably would've been at least one screen with subtitles.
I really hope you're right though. Looking at the trailer again, some scenes  just wouldn't work with text bubbles.

This game is so damn beautiful. I'm not sure I've been this hyped for a game in the series since Phantasia PSX.

The difference in style between the characters and everything is normally fine, but it looks weird in that screenshot that shows Estelle holding a book (third page).

Quote from: Higuchi Yoshito, in the interview in this magazine
『シンフォニア』と『アブス』を手掛けたチームになります。今回のシナリオライターは、『シンフォニア』の方と違うので、あえて『シンフォニア』のスタッフということを言わなかったんです。

Quote from: Higuchi Yoshito, in the interview in play magazine
Is Vesperia being developed by the same team as Symphonia and Abyss?
YH: Mostly, yes. We originally called ourselves "Team Symphonia"-you could say 90% of us are working on Vesperia today, myself and the scenario writer included. All of the core staff remain the same.

o_O My Japanese must not be as good as I thought. That or the guy who transcribed/translated the other interview boobooed. Or Mr. Yoshito doesn't know who his underlings are.

Anyone know which is the case?

(Estelle being a big wussy-pants in the trailer didn't exactly scream "ToS's scenario writer!!" to me, but there's always character development. Hell even Natalia did that once.)

Cyllya predicts:
--Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World will reveal that Ratatosk was involved in ToS's last required scene in Heimdall.
--Tales of Vesperia's plot will involve space aliens in some way
