Personally I don't like the way it looks. I also don't like it because Estelle is not on there. All the story trailers I've seen have always made Estelle look like the main focus in the game. This cover tells me other wise. I was really hoping for them to focuse more on the female lead this time other then the male lead.

Personally, I like dramatic covers that show off all the main characters, like the art for the Sega CD Lunars. Something like the artwork in the third column, second row of this page.

I think the point of this game was to try appealing to western audiences (fail as it is likely to do). I don't think the pink lollypop-head and kids being on the front cover follows that philosophy as perfectly as the chosen cover does. Theoretically they could also have had a cover that included Raven and Judith, but that just feels a little random and not as cool as Yuri and Flynn alone, back to back.

I agree with what Cless said. The japonese covers have kids who smile. NA covers show two fighters who looks angry.

If Namco want to sell more in NA, people have to see pictures who seem mature and suggest a world with violence. It's just my opinion, but NA gamers like games with a environment of violence like DMC, MGS, Resident Evil, etc.

SE know that from a long time. Very often the make covers with a darker environment that the game really is. Just check the covers of Final Fantasy IV, Cecil look to be a very bad guy, but he isn't.

Heres the box art the comes with the xbox 360 bundle (japan only) I don't know if this is the regular japanese box art though. Personally I find this gives of a more mature image then the official north american box art even with the little kiddies Tongue. That's just my personal preference though.

The only thing I would change about that Japanese cover is the background. Plain white is boring.

My main objection to the American cover is that it's another photoshop job. I don't see why they can't commission the Japanese artists to do some "action-packed" artwork for the US cover. I'm not just complaining about Namco, but all publishers. US video game covers have always suffered from this mediocrity epidemic. If the film industry can market their movies with cool posters and make millions, why not video games?

actually, yeah, that shot of yuri unsheathing (or sheathing?) his sword is much better than the one on the US cover.

I also felt the white background was too plane even with all the characters there. I think it would benefit from a light water paint like back round.

You want the Japanese version cover with the US version? Then spend $10 more on the special edition and get it on the special box.

Maybe you get volume two with an unannounced special edition for Dawn of the New World.

I don't think I'd buy a more expensive version of the same game just for the box art. I'll still criticize the standard edition box art choice though.

I saw this one too for covers.

Shops like bestbuy but a image that say that the actual box art is pending.

The biggest tease about the special edition is what's printed on the soundtrack CD. The "Tales" is printed with Destiny's logo font. The silhouette at the bottom totally looks like fricking Leon's sprite from ToD remake. Why aren't we getting that game?

EDIT: Hmm... well maybe it isn't Leon. I can't seem to find a frame like that one. It still looks a lot like him, regardless...

That one's a totally hacked up piece of crap. I'd say the other one is real cause it's apparently posted in most places and has an actual rating on it.

I could have sworn I've seen an image that fits that silhouette before, I just can't put my finger on it. I sort of want to say it's a 2D Luke because it sort of looks like his coattails, but the hair doesn't exactly fit.
