The public is demanding answers! What should we do Mr. President! I didn't play it but I've read comments about it not feeling like a tales game should or some bull like that.

I actually jumped into this game two years ago, deciding I needed to see just how bad it is.  I don't know how many others around here have played it.  I know that, as far as people here only are concern, Magicpaint, Cyllya, and I are the only ones that have played through it.  The three of us have said that it's not as bad as people make it out to be, but acknowledge that there are major problems with the game (they also told me that they find my verdict on Tales of the Tempest, "fair enough").

As for me, I'll tell you what problems I found.  I do have my longer version here.

Since you're wondering about problems with the game.  These are ones I have to point out.
*Too short, even for a handheld RPG.
*Too easy.  Bosses were particularly pathetic.
*Disorganized menus.  Start digging around and it's not going to be smooth.
*Broken mechanics.  You get the Nurse spell as well as Lemon Gel and Elixir within the first hour or two.  Oh, the transformation is easily abused.  You activate it when in critical condition and you stay a wereman until you're drained of TP, which you can use a Pine Gel to keep it going longer.  The Wereman is very powerful too and, once again, easily abused.

Yes, there's some good aspects (Touch screen not being intrusive, the music is good, and battle system looked like it could have worked), but they're overshadowed by its flaw.  In all honestly, it's a highly mediocre game that I can't recommend.  I certainly don't hate it like I do Too Human and Eternal Sonata, but it's still pretty lacking.  As for getting it for your Tales collection, don't pay anything higher than $20, otherwise, just pass.

Thx.

P.S: Where can I find Symphonia(not DotNW) and Abyss? I've been searching. I went to Costco only to find out that that place was EPIC FAIL when it came to selling games. And I thought megastores were good.

I think your best bet would be online since they ceased production on those two. I actually tried looking for abyss not to long ago and it was out of stock every where.

As said, they're out of print. (who releases a sequel on a retrocompatible console with the original out of print?! ... NAMCO)

Tempest... I have it, not that I understand Japanese and got stuck, but didn't really made the effort to get out of it because I didn't really liked the game. There's better DS games out there.

I played a few hours of Tempest (very few, or else I'd have finished the game) and I couldn't really like it, even though I usually love what everyone else hates.

The main problem I found was the story and characters, as I value these aspects much more than gameplay in most RPGs I like. It was too boring and stupid, and I usually find Tales stories pretty entertaining to follow even though they're nothing new (Hearts is an example: its story is totally predictable for the most part but I still loved it just for being charming and funny). But no, Tempest just wasn't even close to being compelling. And the characters were... what were they again?

Also, the battle system is ridiculous. Really. It took Rebirth's ingenious 3-line battles and turned them into still pictures. You just stand in front of the enemies and hit attack, attack, attack. The menus, as Cless Aileron said, were confusing and poorly organized. And the soundtrack is too generic even for Tales standards. And that makes it enough reasons for me to pretend this game never existed.
