Ditto, that's what I'm kinda hoping for too, question is ofcourse who'd pick it up
*thinks it's about time now that we have Namco-Bandai that they start doing Europe themselves instead of letting companies such as Sony and EA do stuff for them*

In general, I'm not really too bothered about the little thingies and such that gets lost during localization, as I've been involved in several Localization projects for my country and have had the experinece of how horrible it can be when you have deadlines, budgets, guidelines, licenses, legal docs and all that kind of stuff to deal with.

Wey! That's great! =D

I have some mixed feelings though. I mean, no matter how good the dubbing gets, there is simply no way to top the japanese track. I consider it some of the best voice work for any game I've played. Especially Jade and Mieu are irreplaceable. I'll also be sad when karma goes. That's one Tales opening I find myself listening to every single time I start the game.

However, while the japanese version is the one I'll go back to, I'll still buy and play it in english. Partly for supporting Tales, a noble cause there, and partly because I want to understand all the skits ^^

Time to clock in about this wonderful release. Damn I haven't been around here for awhile.

There's a real big problem with when Abyss is releasing. They're going against some HUGE giants this fall. Final Fantasy XII, Zelda, Wiii, PS3, Valkryrie Profile 2 and more.... It's going to be a wonderful repeat of ToD2US. Tsk Tsk Hometek.

Yeah, the position they're in sucks... It might have been smarter for them to start early if they knew they were going to bring it over... I don't know if they had the resources to start localization at the same time as Legendia, though it's unlikely they did... kuso... still, the die-hard Tales fans will get it. I do think Abyss does stand a chance against those heavy hitters though. I feel it's the best Tales to have come out in a long time and that the few people that give it a chance will find it can be just as fun as the other games that come out in its release period.

I thought KHII stole some potential Abyss sales too, it was placed too closely to KHII.

I hope they get this out first before the other big hitters cause this will be quickly forgotten if that isn't the case. The last thing we need is namco finding more and more reasosn to think localising a Tales game isn't worth it.

Don't you mean Legendia's sales were hurt by KHII because a month or so before KHII(Legendia) and 6/7 months after KHII(Abyss) are totally different...

And would VP2 be that much of an obsticle here, for importers I can understand...the 'quick selling out' of the Artifact Boxes told me that much but aren't most people here SO2/3 fans or is it all about the Square logo

I'm pretty sure Magicpaint is referring to the Japanese releases, not the US ones:

TotA-KHII Japanese release date comparison:
Tales of the Abyss (JPN) - 15th of December 2005
Kingdom Hearts II (JPN) - 22nd of December 2005

And conversely, the ToL-KHII US comparison:
Tales of Legendia (US) - 7th of February 2006
Kingdom Hearts II (US) - 28th of March 2006

That's just a one-week difference for the first one, and a far larger margin for the other.

Yep, I did mean Japanese releases.

Speaking of VP2, when is it due? I thought it was before the holiday rush, but I realise that's a guesstimate...

There are so many RPGs coming, Rogue Galaxy, VP: L, FFV, FFVI, FFIII, FFXII, TOtA, Contact, VP2 etc my wallet weeps.

VP2 is out next month in Japan. And apparently a very quick turn around is in order for the US, coming out in September. Apparently the game was in English at E3.

September is great.

I've never played a Valkyrie game before (the first one never came to Europe and became too expensive when I tried importing), so I hope to complete Lenneth before Silmeria lands, I think lenneth is for July right?

Namco won't have a problem launching Abyss alongside Valkyrie or near it, namco hometek really need to get their acts together and do this localisation right.
