I do generally really like the character designs, and the new guy does look cool. But he is definitely a Jade/Asche love child. I shall name him "Jasche". Allow me a few hours to get that copy righted.

Just from those screens, at least I can say the game looks good. I'm also hoping that the actual screens manage to also look good.
Also nice to see more playable characters that are not only non-monsters, but the old cast.

.....jeez, did Asche and Jade have a gay love-child or is the character designer just getting lazy?
If you ask me, it seems typical that they recycle character designs for another character. aether_orange had showed me so many of Fujishima's recycled character designs that I pretty much lost track.

Don't forget that if recycling doesn't work, a gender swap usually does the trick.

Controls (taken from Nore's site:)
Control Stick: Movement
A Button: Normal Attack
B Button: Technique
Z: Free Run
C: Unison Attack
+: Menu
-: Target
1 and 2: Shortcuts
Apparently there is also some limited aerial functionality

Ugh, WTF. 1 and 2 are a bitch and a half to press in the midst of heated action. What are they using the d-pad for? anything? That would make for much easier shortcuts, and you could assign 4 like in Abyss.
I hope you can still remap the battle controls. Better yet, I hope this game is classic controller and/or GameCube controller compatible.

in that case, where's the defend button? also, what is the motion/pointing being used for? i would think they wouldn't need a free run button, but would have you swing the wiimote in a direction when pressing A or B or something.

According to IGN, motion control can be used to perform special attacks with the Wiimote and Nunchuck. Thankfully it's optional.

That would get tiring really damn quick.

Wow they really do look great! Still laughing at Dist/Jade/Asch/Zelos clone though.
Is the bottom picture the animation for capturing? o_o

Graphics are looking nice. I'd still prefer cell-shading, but overall I'd have to say this game's look and premise are growing on me. It'd be nice of Namco made a Wii version of Abyss with this graphical quality, like what was speculated before.
