According to this article, Tales of Heart is trademarked in North America.

I know Cless is usually the one snooping into the Trademark office so he can give a better confirmation on this.

If this bit become confirmed, let the speculation begin!

I haven't been having a great week (lost my beloved Grandma a couple days ago), and I haven't been watching things like a hawk. Anyway..

...but they're already out for 3. Rebirth and Tempest trademarks are dead, and though it's not TOO old yet, Innocence is still a ticking timebomb. They seem to be trademarking every new title these days.

But maybe my half joke that the CG was just a pathetic attempt to try and get the game to appeal more to western audiences may not be all that far off... well, who knows. It'd be damn nice to get the game, either way.

I'm really sorry for your grandma, Cless.

As for the topic, I don't know what to think of this. Part of me tells me it's just the same as Rebirth and tempest, they're just gonna trademark it and leave it there until it dies. But the other part of me believes this whole CG cutscenes thing can't be there for nothing... it would be PERFECT to gather western players' attention... or at least Namco should think this way.

I guess only time will tell.

The gameplay is pseudo-3D, but still the core battle system is all 2D down to the graphics which gives me big doubts. So far Bamco has only brought over games that were full-on 3D. Though Legendia's battle system was 2D, the graphics were 3D, which sets the precedent on Bamco America's pattern of licensing. However I see some hope that it may come over since it's on the DS, which I feel is a system that has a higher chance of having a 2D game released for it.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your grandma, Cless.

Now for the topic, I pretty much figure the trademarking here is one of those moments of "We're holding onto the name and sitting on it but haven't made any decision on localizing said game."  Now, Kogahazan pretty much summed up what I think may be going on at Namco Bandai.  It has to be nearly all 3D or no deal for them.

But then, why weren't Tales of the Tempest and Tales of Innocence released? Poor sales?

All im going to say is... hearts better come to america, it'd be one less tales for translation, AND it looks really good (despite the "three" characters per battle that dissapoints me) Smiley
