Guess I'll be the voice of dissent and say that I actually LIKE the CG.

I wonder if the CG addition is some marketing stunt to try to get the game to appeal more to western audiences, and that we'll see the game officially here because of it.
Haha, I wish.

The CG doesn't look too bad I suppose, but I sort of read it like this:

"- 2008 winter, Tales of Heart. Production I.G for anime movie,
I've had anime on the brain for most of 2008. After seeing Production I.G mentioned, it didn't matter who was doing the CG, they weren't going to be able to top Production I.G in my mind.

i don't foresee this one as being a US title. otherwise they probably would have given greater thought to the character names and the title of the game itself. i mean, why take a giant step backwards from ToV and ToS2?

Didn't Tales always have Production I.G as their animation studio?

Don't think the title is such a big deal. It's not like US Tales have always had the same titles as the original Japan ones. Same with character names.
That said, it's quite obvious that my dog will grow a fifth leg before Bamco decides to localize this game. Someone announce a translation project already. D:

ugh, good god, that girl needs a makeover. in the CG version, anyway. her non-skirt thing makes my eyes bleed, whereas it's fine in the concept art. also, SHING METEORYTE looks to be about 8 years older in the CG, as well as significantly buffer (but we expect that, given inomata art).
oddly, the other two characters look almost exactly alike whether in CG or anime form.

Initially I really disliked the CG, but for some reason the CG trailer appeals to me much more.

Is it me, or is the animation in the anime version a bit subpar compared to the other games?

if they would only redesign CG shing and kohaku, it would be great. the rest of the CG is great, i love it.

The CG is good, but I don't like where this is going. When I watched the CG trailer, you know what it made me think of? Final Fantasy. Now I like Final Fantasy as much as I should (I'm buying Final Fantasy XIII, I'm not going to kid myself on that) but I like the Tales series because it's
not
Final Fantasy. It's not like anything else. The Tales series is unique and does what it does independently of what other series are doing. This, to me, seems like Namco coming up to us and saying "Hi! We're going to ruin all that stuff you said about uniqueness because we want more money", which makes me a very depressed gamer.
I mean, for God's sake, this is why I don't so as much gaming as I used to. There's less and less that inspires me by rising above the rest of the pack, Tales of Vesperia managed to do this recently, but it seems Namco feel they have to make their games look like everyone else's if they're going to keep up in the 21st century, which is an attitude sure to drive me away.
