Well.

Most likely I'd be keeping all the localized character names, town names, and storyline terminology (Aeropolis, Ae'ther Wars, Eye of Atamoni, etc and whatever else there was).

Everything else on a case by case basis. Most of the legacy stuff will follow recent Tales localization standards.

You know I was kidding, right?  Even though I'm used to the names, most of them are bad translations.

You are going to at least call him Johnny and not Karyl, right? Bruiser/Kongman and Garr/Woodrow I don't mind, but Johnny was a big messup. I don't see how they could confuse him with a girl when even his piano has his name on it.

Bruiser Khang and Garr are all sorts of better than Mighty Kongman and Woodrow.  I'm on the fence with Johnny/Karyl.  I don't think that they though he was a girl, but rather they were trying to make a bad pun with his attack style (Karyl = carol, as in a type of song).

Hmmm... I forgot about the word carol... I guess that makes sense now, but I would think it would still confuse less informed players into thinking he was a girl. I don't even really remember the American version specifically refering to him as a he or a she.

Maybe not, but they did mention that he was involved with a girl, and she died or was the person you rescue in that castle.  I don't remember his backstory.  Wow, I need to replay Destiny now.

Stan doesn't emphasize the way it's supposed to be pronounced
People unfamiliar with the game will think Lion is pronounced like the cat from Africa
I just don't like Kongman.  Bruiser sound so much more badass.
I just don't like Woodrow either.  IMO, Garr sounds better.

Well the last two are opinion, but whatever.

It doesn't really matter what the names are cause theres always the rename... unless this game doesn't allow rename...(I don't have the game yet but it will be here tomorrow morning! yay! I can't wait!) and also theres voice acting so even if people don't know how to pronounce the names they just have to listen to the voice acting and they'll know.

Anyways if a translation happens I'd much rather have the original names rather then the US names... But like I said doesn't matter what the choice is cause one can just rename the characters how they wish

Well, the only problem technically is that you can't rename characters with 7 letters, at least to their Japanese originals.

I can make the characters default with 7 or more letters (up to 12? maybe more...) in their name by naming them with half-width ASCII.

I can attempt to add half width letters to the renaming menu but I can't guarantee they'll work properly from there.

By the way, have you be able to find the music files? Also, i think there are some TIMs in DAT.BIN file. I used PSicutre and it found like 20, but it wouldn't read them....

As its legality is questionable I won't provide it directly Google for "scph1001.bin" or "scph7502.bin".

So in other words, even if you made it so you could input 12 characters on the naming screen, it might not display correctly in the game itself?  Or am I misunderstanding?

No. I can make the character have a default name of up to 12+ letters in length by using half width letters. But if you change the name through the menu you're still limited to inputting 6.

The game just treats half-width characters in the renaming menu a bit awkwardly because the game wasn't programmed to use them there properly.

At the risk of being called a tease again...

Oh, I see.  Thanks for explaining that.  And don't worry about being a tease, you know everyone is eating it up anyway.  Wink

On a side note, if my copy of ToDr doesn't get here soon I'm going to cry.  I got the message that it shipped on November 30th, so I guess it hasn't been that long... but still, I want it so bad.
