Okay, most/all of you have heard of Tales of Rebirth. I for one can no longer stand waiting. I'm taking matters into my own hands. I'm gonna...

Make a petition
get 10,000 or more signatures
put a vid with said petition on X-Play
Word will spread and Tales of Rebirth(PSP AND PS2) will be released in the States.

Normally, I would NEVER show my face on TV or the internet but this is a good cause.
I can't get all the signatures alone. Please tell you friends about this plan I have. If you want to sign it, PM me. You all know that you want Tales of Rebirth in English just as much as I do.

P.S: This is NO lie at all. I WILL go through with this. I just need support.

I'm sorry to be blunt but I don't think you're gonna make a difference there, as willing as I am to sign whatever petition you're cooking.

If it was that simple we would have done it a long time ago and if namco was willing to let others localize the game it would have been done a long time ago too, that leaves... well, hope.

This said, those are PS2 games, and this is not a plausible time to localize them anymore. Blame Namco all you want (and they deserve it) but don't count on the localization when the morons aren't even bringing what's on their plate now (Tales of Innocence and Tales of Hearts)

It'll be my pleasure to sign your petition, but... sorry, no offense at all and I don't wanna sound rude, but come on. We all know it won't work.

No matter how much you insist, Bamco has made it clear enough that this game will NOT be localized. Period. And if they don't want to do it and won't change their mind, there's nothing you can't do. Nothing at all.

They didn't skip Rebirth and pretty much every other good Tales game in the past eight years or so because they don't know about the fans' interest. No, they skipped it because they ARE STUPID. And if they have blatantly ignored our petitions, emails, terrorist raids and whatever else we (the fans) have done so far, why the hell would they suddenly change their minds now, that the PS2 is a zombie and the series has already made the next-gen jump?

Go ahead with your plan if you want, and I wish you best of luck. But it won't work. You're better off looking for a translator and a hacker, really. Or just waiting it out, as Phantasian Productions (yes, the one group whose forum we're posting at right now) has stated it clearly that it'll be the next project after the Destiny ones and Phantasia are done. I'm more than happy with that (even more considering Rebirth has sunk quite low in my "Tales preference list" in the past months, and the one Tales game I love more than any other is being worked on right now); you'd save yourself from quite a bit of trouble and wasted effort by doing the same.

Anyway, to resume this post in one line... I'll say it for the third time: good luck, and you have my support, despite all I said. Tongue

Petitions online or other wise don't actually do anything. I volunteered at a human rights group last year and the only purpose for petitions were just to collect contact information and that was pretty much it. I have rebirth right now and I would love nothing more ten to be able to play it in english so I can understand what's happening. Due to region locking I actually haven't been able to play it yet because I haven't gotten my hands on swap magic yet (BUT I WILL!!!). Wish you luck.

OK. Besides, I'm not alone. And honestly, I'd be shocked if this actually worked.

Oh and BTW, I wasn't making an online petion. My idea was to get a truckload of papers and get ppl on the internet to agree with me and ask for their real name in a PM and there(OK, this is reeking fail now). But I'll find some way. Is just spreading word the only way to a have a shot at getting Rebirth myself(I'd do it myself but I don't know how). Or I can learn to read Japanese but where can I in the internet for fre?

Oh BTW, would it help if I share some info that MIGHT help translating PSP Tales games? This is why I love Tales. Look for replay value in games(read: New Game+ or a level select with cutscenes intact). With New Game+ RPGs, you get stronger but the enemies don't making the game a joke. Apparently the Tales series is the ONLY series that knows how to handle New Game+(the grade shope earns it extra points). Final Fantasy used to be #1 in my heart but now it's been replaced by Tales.

P.S: If you're curious, I'm doing a Let's Play of Tales of Destiny on YouTube.

I'd be so shocked if it actually worked to the point of saying I'd buy 10 copies. Tongue

We (and by "we" I mean Phantasian productions, with whom I'm not involved in anything but being a user) are only doing PS2 games AFAIK, this because the game's structure is not the same, and thus the hacks done for PS2 would have to be redone for a PSP version just the same (and these aren't simple hacks). Plus, PS2 versions have better resolution, sound output and... more people have PS2's anyway, so... I'd say don't count on a release tailor made for PSP Tales of ports.

"maybe" if you brought hackers willing to hack the PSP version simultaneously as the work progresses with the announced platforms, and even then, Phantasian Productions isn't exactly hiring, and I believe "we" have quite a bit on our table already, to introduce even more variables.

Well..thats not what I meant. Can you turns you patches into a PPF file? Lemme explain:

There is a program called UMDGen which compresses PSP Isos. It can let you apply PPF patches. I'm think that if you apply the english patch as a ppf file, you can translate the PSP tales games? It's worth giving it a shot.

If it doesn't work.....can someone teach me to read Japanese?

Patching the PSP *.ISO is not the problem, it's the hacking needed to do such hacks and reverse engineering. Basically the way the games are packed is different, I recall Cless checked it when it came out, and they were excluded because of that.

If it was a simple task of repackaging stuff Phantasian Productions would do it, thing is, it isn't.

I haven't learned myself, sorry.

if it were easy, "we" would surely be planning on doing it. the mere fact that cless isn't planning on doing it should alert you to the fact that it probably isn't easy.

Legend says Namco is quite stupid, and thinks 2D games don't have acceptance in US, explaining how all Team Destiny games since 2001 (Tales of Eternia) haven't come overseas, that includes Tales of Destiny II, Tales of Rebirth and Tales of Destiny Remake.

Really?? Wait a minute, is Tales faring well here? If not, they should release Tales of Destiny 2(even though I don't like it) and Rebirth. I hope is Rebirth is out, it will be the PSP version(I'm looking for a perfect Tales games w/grade shop. Radiant Mythology sucked to me). I love portables. I've been ignoring my Wii.

Faring so-so, nothing through the roof otherwise we'd know and nothing "that" horrible, but since Tales of Symphonia that there isn't a franchise growth in sales in US (quite the contrary)

Let's say it get's around and this is accounting only to the recent 3D-field tales

Like we said, it's not that simple for namco to pick up "those" for translation now, thing is they should have picked then while the PS2 was around and now chances are they never will. If they had done so it would be easy, for them, to do; like they did with Tales of Eternia PSP.

Besides, all the trademarks for those have expired, which hint nothing is coming/planned. Portable software sales are a lot less seducing when it comes to tie ratio than home platforms, not to mention PSP userbase is ridiculous next to what the PS2 userbase was... Which putting things into perspective and looking at the ammount of text and voices they'd have to localize... Doesn't make that much sense from a business standpoint.

Now... the PS2 versions would have made a lot of justice back then, but what can we say... they're morons.

Awww.....wait. If I got the word out for the game, it'd get a higher chance of release in the US! I got this petition idea from Absolute Zero's post about the Tales of Hearts pic. What if I just make a truckload of buzz?

Well excuse me for I am gonna make a rant about Namco-Bandai and post it on YouTube.
