I have just registered, I am a new member, I have read this webpage for a long time and now I decide to join in this awesome community!

I have been here but I didnt see any signs of existance of a Symphonia Patch (I mean no one is ever going to make one), but maybe I am mistaken, is there any hack group or such trying to hack Symphonia  Huh?
BTW great work and cheers for your coming works !!!  Wink
Buh Bye to everyone!!!  Grin

Which Version of the Game?

The PS2 or the NGC one?

If its the PS2 I will have to disappoint you most probably... it uses CriSoft ROFS for packaging its files... its not laid wide open like the NGC Version Sad

But that aside - No - I dont think theres a hack for ToS for any version of it... Undecided

Probably one of the hardest things you've ever seen...

Sony signed a license with CriSoft so they dont have to do the good protection schemes themselves...

Also the ROFS Idea allows for faster access of files on a disc...

Its used in just about every new famous PS2 game I know... and also on some Xbox360 Games...

The ones that use it afaik are...

PS2:
.hack//GU Series (all)
Tales of Symphonia (jpn)

Xbox360:
Eternal Sonata (all regions i assume... even though I only checked the multilang european one)

---------------------

oh btw... why are you so sad about this anyway?
I mean... Tales of the Abyss just got released in English for the Ps2 anyway... just get it already.

It's really easy, actually. Those files are just plain 2048 byte/sector ISO images with an additional header at the beginning. Use ISO Buster and you can extract everything. As for the compression, the GC version uses CAB, while the Ps2 porting has the usual Lzss+Rle scheme. It could be possible to port all the already translated script into the Ps2 version, but the game would need some asm hacks to draw in VWF and probably to understand 8 bit strings, too.

I have every Tales to date in PS2, that counts PSX ToP, ToD, ToDR ToR ToD2 and ToE, everything in japanese, and sometimes english, I am sad since I never played the original ToS in GC.   Cry and dont know some parts in the story, it gets easier which each hour I put into the game, so I guess that when I reach 100hs I will be accustommed, still...  I want to see sidequests and skits in english...

No, I do not. Tongue Personally hacked part of the Ps2 TOS and those archives open totally fine under ISO Buster.

I don't have any .hack game, so I never bothered to look into one. Also, TOS is really old, so they probably updated the format and made it a little better, hence why it's no possible (or is it?) to open it with Iso Buster.

Hey Gemini, you seem to have hacked some bit of Aymphonia, didnt you? in that case did it work unglitched? Also I am aware it would need some ASM hacking
