I think most of us could care less about this game.

When it came out, most people here were just band-wagoning off of comments somebody made on GameFAQs without even playing the game themselves.. typical anime community stuff, they were pissed there wasn't FMV or chat skits in the game or something like that. Based on how much of a (unwarranted, in my opinion) trashing the GBA version of Phantasia and Legendia get in the Tales circles, I don't take any negative comments about the games said therein seriously.

Based on actual constructive criticism I've read about the game, it seems it should be on par with the Narikiri games: a short, grind-heavy Tales diversion. It just doesn't have the whole maddening cameo heavy motif to ride off of compared to those.

Anyway, I think it'll come out here still, it just came out in Japan so it's probably too early for them to have announced anything. Maybe they're refining the game more for international release? Hey, it's happened before.

Well, I still say the criticism for Tempest are called for.  Even letting a few things slide (FMV and Skits), it still doesn't look impressive.  And the game was even delayed twice.  It should have been better than what came out.

And another thing.  Just how exactly is Tales of Phantasia GBA and Tales of Legendia getting unwarranted trashing?  I thought people were pretty much explaining why they were, to put it nicely, subpar.  I could talk about why Tales of Phantasia GBA was poor.  I mean, the dialogue was poorly written and the battle system was sluggish and not so smooth.  Oh yeah, trying to cram so many functions into the small amount of buttons.  I'm sure someone can talk about why Tales of Legendia is objectively bad.  I'm going to tell what they said.  The dungeon design were awful with long-winded, linear design with a puzzle booth seperated from the main dungeon for a lazy design.  The story was horrible with its plotholes and just plain out dumb events.  The battle system is so shallow and even other Tales battle system manage not to feel so shallow (well, except Tempest, which can fall under there too).  Oh yeah, the enemies take forever to beat up.  The character quests were horrible, making the player go through those horrible dungeons again.

What am getting to with all this.  I don't know.  Ever think that maybe the things they say is called for?  Just asking.

Sorry for getting off topic with that but I just have to say that.

Anyway, I'm pretty much expecting Tales of the Tempest to come over anyway.  Let's see what happens.

Topic split.

Seems to me that long delays are bad things for Tales games.

Legendia: I seem to recall Datschge saying this had been in development since shortly after Eternia was finished, and then got tossed onto the backburner.

Phantasia GBA: I recall that this one silently disappeared for awhile, and didn't seem to come out when originally anticipated. First screens were shocking to people, and I remember there even being some graphic glitches in them.

Tempest: Delayed about 6 months for what...? Quality control issues? Did they do anything with that time?

Although I haven't played Tempest yet, I'd have to say the general cristicisms for Legendia and Phantasia GBA are entirely warranted. Many series non-fans complain about the same major problems!

Oh, then lets add things we don't like about radiant mythology here.

Actually, I generally agree with the actual points of criticism. However, the negativity is taken to an such an extreme degree that it's hard to take seriously.
