Hello, I'm a newbie here and I just want to know is anybody is interested for a English Translations of Tales of Symphonia on PS2. This project will be easier than anyone because, well you know, this game exists on GameCube and it'll be easy to have correct term. Also, I have know a little about japanese. Currently, I have a Japonese Version of this Great Game but I do need help someone for rom hacking. I want to stay with the original voices because they are way better than any other voices.

There's not really much of a reason for this for most people. The technical issues of the PS2 port FAR outweigh the lame (in my opinion) extras. I'm not trying to be discouraging, but unless it was really a matter of a simple cut and paste job (which I doubt it is), the resources would probably be better spent on other Tales projects.

Otherwise, welcome to the forum.

Yeah, I have to agree.  The additions to ToS PS2 aren't significant enough to merit a full translation and hack job.  Like Leroy said, we've still got Tales games out there with nothing going on them, the time would better be spent there. "He said as he worked on his soon to be useless ToP translation script."

Ok Leroy, I understant your point. It's way better to work on Tales Projects who never come to NA likes Tales of Destiny2 and Tales of Rebirth before any others projects and to work on Tales remakes who have a lot of good extra. The idea about made a translation for ToS was to work on a project than no one work on because I don't want to do translations if someone else already did it. But if you have any guide about ps2 rom hacking, it'll be a great help.

I never took a deep look at this game but it was clearly different in structure than the Team Destiny games.

It might be a worthwhile project if you can find a way to drop the GameCube script into it and have the extra parts translated.

I might've been more interested in a project like this if the PS2 version didn't turn out to be the technical disaster it became.

Well, I don't know what's going on with the main translation of ToD2.. but if you can actually translate, get in touch with Cless (above).. he's bound to have a use for any competent translator. As far as PS2 documentation, the best anybody can suggest is poke around Google (but you'll need to look for Cube stuff as well if the intent is to rip from one and insert into the other).

Well, Cless, if you need help for translations for ToD2, I may give a hand but as I can see on the forum, the project it's on good rail. Also, I see that maybe the only think which not translated yet may be the skits, but I don't have enough japonese-english translations skills to notice all the shrewdness of the original version, but I can try. About ToS project, say me what you need, and I will try to find out all the information you need. As I said before, my knowledge about rom hacking is near nothing, so I don't know what technical issues may happen.

University took a lot of my times recently, but I find some times to look over internet for more information about gamecube hacking but every thing I found is useless. I was able to extract a lot of textures(If I have to, I can extract every texture of the game) from ToS (gamecube version) from the original disk but I don't think this is very useful for what I want to do. If someone can show me a romhacking community or any guide about gamecube or ps2 hacking, it'll be great. I simply can't translate or modify the game if can't extract the script.

Although this might have been the first place you turned to, I'll still mention it just to be sure that you are aware of it. I apologize if you already knew, I intend no patronization.

Thank you for your help, but I had already check on romhacking.net. The best place so far that I found about romhacking it's http://www.alucard.cc with the Console Rip Creator, a very usefull tool. But honestly, I do not think that extract scripts from a CVM file will be so complicated.
