I read somewhere that the names of the two moons in Tales of Phantasia's world of Aselia are called Sylvarant and Tethe'alla - the names of the two worlds in Tales of Symphonia. Is this officially true? I have not seen any real proof of it.

Yes, this is true. There's a book in Alvanista's library about it, I believe. Can't recall if it's in the past or the future though, but possibly both.

It's in either the past or both. I'd grab you a quote, but a computer error has caused me to misplace that file.

DeJap called them Silvaranto and Teseara.

ToS PS2 also confirms that those are the names of the moons (ToS GC only confirms Tethe'alla, repeatedly).

I'm guessing the two world ecame one entity and they named it Aselia. The were seperate moons for the worlds and seeing as the world is one that means they now have two moons so being lazy they called them after what thr two worlds were once called.

Not quite.

When the world was originally one, they also had two moons then. One was named Selene, and it didn't give the other's name. When they worlds were split, each world got one moon: Sylvarant got Selene and Tethe'alla got the other.

Over time, people forgot about the world splitting apart (Cruxis censoring the history books or something), but they remembered that the Ancient War was between the two countries. So someone on Sylvarant wondered where all the Tethe'allans had gone and some other genius came to the conclusion that they must've migrated to the moon. So they renamed Selene to Tethe'alla.

It doesn't say how the other moon came to be called Sylvarant, but I assume it's the same way.

It? What is "it"? What's your source, here, Cyllya? I've never heard of anything like that before....Selene?

Also, I've found the spot in Phantasia where the moons are mentioned (Alvanista Castle). It's interesting to note that the English GBA version refers to Tethe'alla without an apostrophe in its name - "Tethe Alla" instead of "Tethe'alla". This screws with continuity w/ Symphonia a little bit...

ToS's OST (and presumably other things with English/Engrish written on it) called it Tethe Alla too.

Tales of Symphonia. I think that bit was in some bookshelf text somewhere. Tower of Mana, probably, but I don't think I have a save file where I can check the Tower of Mana's books.

EDIT: Ah, I do have a good save. The relevant book, "Tethe'alla Observation Record," is in the upper left corner of the Tower of Mana entry room. It says....
Quote
Tethe'alla is Sylvarant's moon, which orbits this planet once every forty-two days. Prior to the Ancient War, Tethe'alla was known as Selene. The Church of Martel advocated the name, Tethe'alla, after the Ancient War. The name comes from a legend that the people of Tethe'alla migrated to the moon.
And that's why all the Sylvarant characters get confused when someone mentions Tethe'alla not refering to the moon.

So there's two Tethe'Allas? One is the moon of Sylvarant where there's nothing or at least it's not explored, and the other is the actual Tethe'alla that they travel to?

Yes. Or you could argue that there are actually three Tethe'allas:
1. Moon
2. World you visit
3. One of the two countries that were involved in the Kharlan War.

But 2 and 3 are kind of the same thing.
