I'm kinda interested in seeing how a ToP sequel would turn out, especially if it's a relatively short period between games (like ToD vs. ToD2).

Wonder if they'd be able to retain that "feel" the original game had though. ToP had a cool feel of its own that was never reproduced in any later games to me... (difference of dev team, probably. Or maybe it's just them rose colored glasses!). Symphonia didn't even come close (much as I liked it more than ToP).

I dunno, I actually don't want another game in the Phantasia timeline. It's already got a prequel and 2 distant sequels. So unless they're remaking Narikiri Dungeon 1 or Summoner's Lineage, I don't quite see this happening.

An Abyss port seems odd though, but luckily not offlimits to us!

Doesn't seem all that interesting here.

A Tales of Phantasia sequel seems scary.  I'll be very skeptic about this one if this one came true.

Abyss related stuff.  *sigh*  You've heard what I said about this game.  After the thing I went through with this game, do I really want to submit myself to this game again on a different system?  Also, a sequel to the game doesn't really get me excited either.

I guess we'll have to see later.

Well, it's not like they COULDN'T make a Phantasia sequel.  The story already exists in the novels, like Cless was talking about, it really just comes down to gameplay and the 'feel' of the game.  Phantasia really does have something that sets it apart, and I think that'd be rather difficult to recapture.  But I really don't see the need for a new game in the timeline.  Like I said before, I'd like something new.

Actually, now that I think about it, LMB-wise I wouldn't mind another Abyss sequel. But I'm really content with how the story ended, and they might butcher/complicate it a ton more if they did a sequel.

But I'd really like to see the FoF system again XP. It was a neat way to do flashy mini mini hiougis without breaking the flow of battle (Unisons) or having to resort to small extra versions of the move (ToD2 extensions). I just wish there were more techs to play around with..

Its the least they could add, but have they done that on the other ports... naw.
I dunno, it'd have to come done to how the mote is used I guess.

About the gym comment, well we were all gettin a little flabby anyways.

If I were going to bet money, I'd guess it'll be ToP remake. (I try to forget about ToP-GBA's existance and am constantly forgetting about ToP-PSP's without even trying, and I think ToP-PSX is bleh, so I don't know what people are talking about when they say there are too many ToPs....) It'll fix a bunch of plot holes but cause twice as many.

As its legality is questionable I won't provide it directly Google for "scph1001.bin" or "scph7502.bin".

More rumors (from 2ch). No ToP2 this time, but ToA Wii persists. The other two games appear related to Abyss (and they have stupid names)

2ch has a pretty spotty record for rumors, so yeah... don't shoot the messenger. Tongue

Hmmm... although it would be pretty kickass to have Abyss for the Wii, the only question I have is "why?"

I can wait the three days to see what's what.  I really can't see where anything would go with Abyss.  Asch and Tear as the two separate main characters seems weird.  Especially since, you know, Asch dies in the end of Abyss, and most signs point to the guy coming back at the end being Luke.

Well, I for one would like it with a lot less loading time, and an out of battle framerate upgrade. Some cleaner, higher res textures would be icing on the cake, since the PS2 game has blurry, low res textures of the same quality as Symphonia PS2. And progressive scan for us HDTV owners! And maybe some 16:9 goodness...

It really seems like a no-brainer port to me. It's almost free money for namco. With Abyss for PS2 almost certainly having been built off the Symphonia PS2 codebase, all they have to do is rebuild Abyss off the Symphonia GC codebase, since the Wii simply features upgraded GC hardware.

Namco Bandai would be foolish not to publish the port here. The bulk of the localization would already be finished, and all they'd have to do is patch up whatever's added. And if they're feeling generous, they could go out of their way and dub the skits, giving us the first completely uncut Tales localization ever...

The only thing that gets me is how the translation says the port could use the Wii remote+nunchuck. I don't see how motion controls could exactly port to a traditional Tales system, and there aren't enough buttons on the setup.

So, what hours does this so called conference start?

Is it less than 24 hours left now?

I'm really hoping for Abyss to come my Alley ^_^ Also the US version had Mystic Arts not present in the Japanese version added, it would make sense to make them available to their public.

If team symphonia is really doing a Wii game it's only natural to update the symphonia gamecube engine to the point it runs abyss, really almost a port at zero cost, then just add candles and whistles to a upcoming tales Wii game.

That said, I'd be overjoyed just with Abyss, really.

They have conferences for these things? With who?

Anyway, yeah, ToA was a great game for such a slopped-together mess, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a slopped-together mess. Tongue
