I think they should have just left out the whole section where you do nothing but backtracking.
Really, I love everything up to the point where Luke cuts his hair, and everything after the battle against Synch in the core.
But what's inbetween isn't just 'not as good', it is awful.

Yeah, the game's awesome, like most Tales games, but there are things weather in the story(must do), or that stick out enough to annoy the heck out of people(like the backtracking fest). True, the game was real short, leaving folks thirsting for more monster's guts. Luke looked gay before the haircut and still afterwards(good thing for team members making him look good). The battle system change and free roaming made a lot of fun and since it wasn't that bad of a game overall I give Abyss a 7/10.

there's also a section of the game in the second "part" where you have to run around talking to spinoza, etc. etc. which was also boring as all hell.

If anyone gives rip about famitsu reviews, Innocence scored 35/40 (9/9/9/8). In-line with with most main entry Tales game scores.

*Mr. Burns impression*  Excellent.

It's nice to hear that Tales of Innocence did not mess up.

if you have one of those fancy hard drive ps2 setups, that would help a LOT. the load times are atrocious.

How do you do these anyway? >_> I have a few hard drives laying around, and it'd be nice to have a faster ToA. :x

Non-slim PS2 with a Network Adapter and an IDE hard drive that fits the plug spacing. Then you just get your hands on HDLoader, which can be booted off a disc you buy, or you run it off a memory card for free via a PS1 disc using a certain exploit. Setup isn't that hard, though you need save transfer software to set up the memory card exploit. You plug the hard drive in and HDLoader formats it for you. Then you just use the install button to install games from discs, or you can pop the hard drive in a PC and install games with WINHIIP or hdl_dumb.
