Here is the article they're announced in. The quality is pretty bad though.

Which magazine is that? I'm guessing you're certain the pic isn't fake?

Damn. I thought this place was so slow as of late that I'd be the person to post this. I get here, and there's already two replies. Tongue

Tales of Innocence for DS, Mutsumi Inomata character design, all-new game.

Better not be sent to DIMPS again. Not exactly optimistic about this.

Tales of Rebirth, port to PSP.

Predictable.

Tales of Destiny Director's Cut, at this point platform unknown. PS2?

Crazy. In one way, it seems too early to re-release the PS2 game already. But then the sales of that weren't exactly optimal IIRC. Maybe it could be to close that gap.

On the other hand, the original game is loaded with unused stuff. Could it be a port of the original version with the unused stuff completed, with extra stuff and a bunch of engine refinements for the PSP?

We'll see I guess. The logo shown is the one used for the PS2 version, if that even matters.

Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk, for Wii.

I was waiting for the inevitable Team Symphonia announcement. I guess Matt wasn't full of shit this time.

Tales of Innocence.  The only thing I hope for is that they do not mess this up.

Tales of Destiny Director's Cut...this would be something I expect from Metal Gear but it looks like they're doing it too.  I'll have to see if there's anything worth mentioning there for a Director's Cut.

Tales of Rebirth PSP.  I got nothing much to say here.  Maybe they'll localize it this time (Maybe...).  All I have to say is...if they do, maybe I can expect them to take Claire Bennett's name and drop the last T in her last name.  All so we can really get reactions for someone from a game originally released in 2004 having the same full name as a character from a recent hit TV show (Sorry, I had to make that joke and yes, I've been watching Heroes).

Tales of Symphonia:  Knight of Ratatosk.  I'd like to see more here but I have to say, it's something.

Tales pulls a Dragon Quest

That's right. Apparently, the main series will now be continued on the NDS. Tales of Innocense the next main installment?

So what's the deal with with this ToS "sequel"?

If Tales is pulling a Dragon Quest...then I probably say they're doing something like what Dragon Quest is doing in another way.  I mean, there is a Dragon Quest spin off on Wii...maybe this Tales of Symphonia game is a spin off like what Dragon Quest is doing.  Then again, it's just a thought.

Yeah, they aren't exactly calling it Tales of Symphonia 2, and are giving it a subtitle instead. Kinda sets off flags.

I guess the move to the DS is a logical step. Tales never was about pushing graphics anyway, so a shift to 360 or PS3 seemed unlikely to me. Also, they almost always tried to have the main games on the most popular system (as evidenced by most of the series being on Sony platforms and all main games on Nintendo systems later being released for a Sony system).

I just am a bit sad because I don't have a DS yet, but not like they're going to release Innocence right away (although I am not really looking forward to it until there's more information to drive away thoughts of Tempest) and I still haven't finished the other games in the series.

As an aside (ooo, I liked the alliteration there), I can't help but wonder if the choice of naming it "Tales of Innocence" has anything to do with the rise in moé and loli in Japan.

Some pics have been shown.

Tales of Innocense has a chick with a gun... that's a first. i don't ever recall seeing a gun being used in this series. And the first timer who uses one is a girl. interesting. the guy also uses a two-handed sword, don't think i've seen those either. The logo contains a floating city.

game is apparently being done by Alfa Systems though. Although I've not been a big fan of a the spinoffs/crossovers, this gives me more hope than DIMPS. I actualy kinda like how this looking already.

tales of symphonia wii:

Character designer is obviously not Fujishima or any other artist that's done the main series. Maybe it's Daigo? I think I like the first couple designs shown more than the ones in ToS

ToD is the PS2 version with more stuff, including a "Leon mode". plus there's going to be a limited box. jesus... did they really lose that much money on the first release? haha

guess we'll be hacking that version if it doesn't come out here, in the future.

And for the hell of it, the two ToS Wii characters.

The guy is kinda generic I guess (not much worse than Lloyd), but I'm really digging the girl character design.

Yes, it's supposedly being moved to a handheld platform (despite the fact that this upcoming DS game still isn't being made by Tales Studio). The only difference that makes to me is that it's not playable on the big screen. I don't see how it's the death of the series...
