BULLCRAP.

Cless: "Mint Mojitos, oh how I love you so."
Lloyd: "Two handles of Jack means you get plastered twice as fast!"
Cain: "I'm here to kick ass and cosplay... and I'm all out of Narikiri Leon dolls. Also, I'm definitely not Judas. ... Shit."

THIS is what ND4 was supposed to be.

I call April Fools'.

Bleh. How dare they finally shove Fulein in with the ND2s. First Dio/Mel reduced to running Narikiri Shop in ND3 and now this. Narikiri is just an excuse to do Fandom with LMBS now. Screw you, crossoverphiles! *fistshake*

it would be fine if they all joined up with cless, lloyd, and cain. in fact, it would probably be awesome; i predict it would go like this:

Cless: "Hey, you hit your 15th birthday, right?"
Frio: "Yeah, I'm an adult now!"
Cless: "Alright, one shot for each year! Got me some top-quality vodka, here!"
Frio: "Holy crap, niiice!"
Kyaro: "What was that?!"
Cless: "Juice. Top-quality grape juice. Only made from the sweetest grapes."
Cain: "Ooh, can I have... Uh, I mean, f that shit, I only drink 400 proof rum."
Fulein: "Technically, that isn't even--"
Lloyd: "Shut the hell up and drink. Dwarven Vow #2373."
Kururu: "So liek wut, r we hittin up sum clubs and pickin us up sum bitches after this?"
*stunned silence*
Dio: "... Notmyfault."

but as it currently stands? i am sorely disappointed that namco bandai japan didn't heed my advice.

Are they really going to be able to competently do this? The Tales roster is massive as hell now, probably twice or nearly twice the size it was since ND3 (maybe bigger than that if you count Tempest, Vesperia, and Symphonia KoR). They couldn't even get every previous character into Radiant Mythology.

They've got a million more sprites to make if they try fitting the entire roster in. And millions more if Mel, Dio, and Fulein are added in as narikirishi. I imagine it's too frickin' expensive to draw new sprites for all the old characters, so we're probably stuck with those dated things again. Let's at least hope they've found a way to touch up and refine those awful Symphonia sprites from ND3.

I honestly would rather just see a 3D remake of ND1, or something else with a justifiable storyline if they really have to use sprites. I'm kinda' tired of throwaway plots with a mishmash of main Tales game characters making cameos. [/endrant]

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed Radiant Mythology, so I'm still gonna' play ND4 (but Kaji's idea sounds better >_>). Reserving further judgement for later.

i kind of assumed it would be in 3D, seeing as how innocence does a rather decent job of it, and that was made by alfa systems (which made the other two TotW:ND games). in that case, they might be able to sort of reuse costumes across the male characters and the female characters, maybe just adjusting a bit for proportions. i'm guessing they'll just use selected tales characters or costumes, too... let's examine the counts:

ND1 - 6 characters (ToP)
ND2 - 22 characters (main line upto ToE)
ND3 - 37 characters (main line upto ToS)
RM - 58 characters (main line upto ToA)
ND4 - 65 characters (main line upto ToI/ToDR, 71 if you include tempest)

it was pretty decently big even at ND2, totally ridiculous by ND3 (thus necessitating that multi-party system), and completely unmanageable by RM. i'd be really, really impressed if they actually included everyone, but i doubt it would happen.

That came out of nowhere... I did not expect this, even with all the milking they've been doing.

I'm hoping it uses Tales of Innocence's battle system if 3D, or ToDR's if it's 2D. Wonder if the Tempest characters will be given a shot in this...

This unsettles me. Which is a shame because normally a game with Fulein in a major role would be a good thing.

Well, I have wanted to use SamoRine characters in LMBS...

So which Frio and Kyaro are they using? They weren't the same people in ND2 as ND3, they were another set of people who coincidently had the same name and appearance.

They've got a million more sprites to make if they try fitting the entire roster in. And millions more if Mel, Dio, and Fulein are added in as narikirishi. I imagine it's too frickin' expensive to draw new sprites for all the old characters, so we're probably stuck with those dated things again. Logic says they would use 3D models, which is much less evil and horrible for that sort of thing than 2D is.

Pre-rendered 3D in a 2D battle system would probably look nice, but I doubt they'd do that.

So far I have to say the 3D Tales battle system really sucks on handhelds. The implementation of free run is an absolute pain in the ass regardless of it being PSP or DS. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised if that's the direction they took, since the series is trending so much more towards the 3D style, and they have the Innocence engine to play with.

The DS is so, so, so much better at 2D. It's a shame that 2D in the series seems to be dying.  Right now the 3D battle system is still maturing, and there's not a lot of twisting going on.

Cless: "Hey, Fulein, y'know, I knew your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather."
Fulein: "Really?"
Cless: "Yeah. He was really smart, like you, he wore funny-looking clothes, like you, and he drank like an elephant stuck in the middle of a desert."
Fulein: "You mean he practiced strict temperance?"
Cless: "What? No, he-- ugh, you know what I mean. Sooo..."
Fulein: "So?"
Cless: "Clearly you should follow your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather's example and booze with us before we go on to fight the next Summon Spirit."
Fulein: "And then proceed to stumble around, interact with uncouth women, and underperform in battle? No, thanks."
Lloyd: "That's not the only place Cless'll underperform, heh."
Cless: "Shut up, Lloyd. Look, man, everyone'll think you're a gigantic wuss if you don't drink. Come on!"
Fulein: "But I do drink. See, this is called a sylphinated beverage. You see, by pressing water through a concentrated--"
Cless: "Pff, that shit is for pussies!"
Fulein: "... Want to see a cool trick, Cless? If I drop this tablet into it, it will instigate a high-speed, spontaneous catalytic reaction due to the interaction of--"
Cless: "The what now?"
Fulein: "Look down the mouth of the bottle, closely. Yes, that's it. Okay, now watch carefully."
Cless: "I don't--CHHHEEAAAARRGRGHGHGHHHH"

*Fulein received the title, いがいと卑しい!*

honestly, the best thing would be ToDR-style sprites and a similar battle system, but i really doubt it. or maybe, 3D models shaded to look 2D-ish, in a 2D battle system that is kickass?

Narikiri Dungeon has always been a 2D game, I doubt they will change it. And kajitani-Eizan I do like the your idea = "but i really doubt it. or maybe, 3D models shaded to look 2D-ish, in a 2D battle system that is kickass?" Btw kajitani-Eizan, when will we really get an update for ND2 or ND3

Why? The other ND's had to be 2D because they were on 2D-only systems, but this game is on a system that is comfortably 3D-capable, and it's a kind of game with graphical needs that are much, much, much more easily accomplished if the characters were done in 3D models.

Reading Kaji's comments, somehow, I'm starting to think of Mithos saying "I'm going to bust a cap in your ass, Lloyd!" Either that or Asch saying, "I'm going to bust a cap in your ass, replica!"  Maybe because it's being edgy.  And I'm trying not to think about that gangsta stuff.  *realizes Grand Theft Auto IV is coming out at the end of the month*  Ah, screw it!  I can't escape it!  Not to mention, I fail at gangsta and we don't need Zelos Wilder and Sheena Fujibayashi having "Hot Coffee."

Well, it's nice to see Mel, Dio, and Fulein again...hopefully not getting so much of a backseat.  I guess not having enough information, it's hard for me to make some thoughts about this other than seeing them.  Then again, it's another excuse to have a crossover.

Don't know if everyone saw, but this was an April Fools joke as well.  Here's the relevant thread on Namco's forums.
