heya guys hopefully you can help me here. ive managed to rebuild the cd thanks to a wiki i found on this site, and have the japanese audio inserted and the disk work s and all. problem is the timing and audio pointers are mixed up.

what i mean is the japanese audio is being utilized with the english timing and pointers.
also worth noting is that on this game the audio files are baisically one big cd like file with tracks hidden inside.
whats happeneing is lets say the for a particular dialogue box with spoken words in the english the game goes like this. play track 1 for 1 second than pause. wait for dialogue to switch to next box play track 1 from last point for 3 seconds and pause. etc.
now since the japanese spoken word is a fair bit longer and bigger than the english when the game pauses the japanese audio it is usually not complete for the given dialogue box and when the box switches the previous spoken word is continued and everything gets misaligned from there.
furthermore ffor spells and and combat moves the pointers seem to be mixed up completely. like for example in the first boss fight the boss casts thunder blade but speaks ground dasher.

i hope im explaining this right.

what im really looking for is a way to identify the file that controls audio timings and pointers if such exists.

there are a number of folders data/field/movie/sg/xa
i figure it has to be somewhere in the data folder.

also worth notice is that the english disk has an aditional file M.B that the japanese disk does not have.

anyway im pretty novice at this and it may be beyond my abilities but anyhelp figuring this out would be appreciated.
included is a pic of the files on the disk excluding the movie and xa folders.

I'd probably start by looking at the game's dialog script, to see if there are any clues there.

Also, something that might get tricky is if the English and Japanese have dialog lengths that completely mismatch (one language having severely different dialog exchanges where the dialog boxes being passed back 'n' forth mismatch. Either by the amount of boxes being passed around or who gets to say what.)

When it comes to certain games and doing undubs (something I generally don't care much for), you might also always want to look into the possibility and complexity of possibly exporting the English script and importing it in the Japanese version.

Additionally, since the PS1 is a bit of a tricky system, you might have more luck with the PSP port. I haven't looked at it myself, but I would imagine that the PSP version "might" drop having a single track audio DB in favor of having individual streams for each either each dialog exchange or line... Either way, probably at least worth a look.

The PSP version already has an undubbed version.

i believe that the script is contained in the m.d file however i do not know how to extract it from it. i can open the file with VS08 however it is completely hexadecimal. is there a way or program that you can reccomend a program that can help me extract data from these files.

File structure is pretty much the same as the psp version, I believe that the psp version required a little bit of hex editing in the main game executable.

I have both versions of the PSP version and tried undubbing it myself, but I would up with lines like

"キール
If I have to run away from monsters,I just use one of my ホーリボトルs."

Also it just crashed eventually.
