..Even though I am agreeing about most of the subjects about Namco going crazy, localizing tales games that ARENT EVEN OUT IN JAPAN, wasting budget that COULD BE USED FOR OTHER GAMES, I think that for once we gotta think real:
We as fans like to have the best tales games in USA, isnt it? Logically Namco needs money to localize them, right? Where do you think most that money comes from? FANRAPING, they are expriming most fans money by making them buy half made games (TOP GBA) and with that money they can make better localizations (TotA). ToS was a miraculous success, it brought many tales to USA, with the budget it gave, possibly if it hadnt done good, we wouldnt have received Abyss or Legendia (actualy that is not so bad..). Vesperia MIGHT be the miraclous tales game that brings money, Namco of America is smart, but I think that it is a bit of a gamble:
If the game is a success, and has nice graphics, it will have to pass thorugh ANOTHER filter: "COMMON PLAYER" Filter
I gotta say common players give little to no attention to the advertisement Namco is giving to the tlaes games nowadays (take aside ToS:KoR and ToS) abyss advertisements in USA were crap, when I entered gamespot, and saw that red haired dude slashing the screen and the word "An epic tales.." came, my inner thought was "a crap game" luckily after I played Phantasia I got hooked, but that is not the point.
I mean, EVEN if Vesperia is good, it has gotta be better advertised than the older games (C mon, who would put  a game one week before the rrelease of FF12???)
I am scared of that, vesperia might be a good game, but reception will be only old fans, and ocassional gamers, if namco doesnt take part into regular gamers liking, they are toast, and alongside that, all our hopes for the JP-only games localized, are toast too. Nobody was expecting Team destiny games come here ANYWAYS did they? X3

This is what I think overall, so my escape pod of salvation is: LEARN JAPANESE, beleive it or not, I am starting japanese lessons for Jp only games, I waited too long, and I mgiht be a fluid speaker if I started when I picked up ToD2 and wanted it to come here.

Well, not everyone has the time or energy to learn a new language just to be able to play games that wouldn't cost namco an arm or leg to bring over.

Quite honestly, if it takes me as long to learn Japanese as it did for me to learn English, then by the time I know it by heard the games will probably be out of print and the next generation will be in the middle of it's life cycle.

I sayed that as MY escape pod, seeing as the future of tales is uncertain, I mean, what choice we have? Import, modchip, translation patches, learning japanese and the fandubs are made for the lack of localizations:
If you want to play a JP game you have 3 choices, waiting for a patch/translation guide, learn it by yourself, play it without knowing story

yup, learning Japanese would be the best solution. If you have the time to play games, then I'm sure that you have the time to learn a new language (I am NOT saying that they take the same amount of time). On top of that, IMO, 90% of the localisations are garbage. The dubs suck and even the translations are sometimes (highly) inaccurate. They couldn't even dub the skits for Abyss.

There are sooo very many games that don't make it here but are really really good. The only problem I have though is that I don't have the patience (i.e. motivation) to learn spoken Japanese, let alone the thousands of kanji. I have tried, after seeing all the games that will never come here, but I just lost the motivation.

Supposedly there is a one year Japanese course (at some uni in Japan) that is hell but does the job. That is exactly what I need - a fast paced and demanding course (marks are my only motivation Tongue). Perhaps one day I will get the chance to take that course.

I cant think how severe a 1 year course can be, if the course I am making, a 4 year one, is extreme. Talking about motivation, I think that the best motivation I got for japanese learning is their culture, to know another language, to know what they say and not be ignorant to it, like I was with english till I learned it, and now look, I am not too bad writing in english, am I?  Cheesy
