Warning:  Cless Aileron has officially gone crazy a couple of weeks ago.

Okay, I didn't.  But the topic in hand just made me say it.  Now, I made this reference in the Tales collection topic.

Quote
(If the Tales Brigade ends up starting to bring up photos of Tales costumes, the people are going to have to convince me hard enough to show myself as Leon Magnus outside of my blog...and have me suffer from Cless's tomatoes.)

Well, correction.  I actually shown myself in a Leon Magnus costume at Tales of the Ellipsis (with one nice response and no one said anything afterwards) and, despite being two weeks from that time, I decided I'll show it here.  I figure, post this for the part of the Tales fandom I know well.  So here it is:

Yes, that's me...as Leon Magnus
I'll start nitpicking before someone beats me to it.  I'm aware Leon has black hair.  I was growing my hair out thinking I can fake my dark brown hair.  It was something I got worried about when I started to notice the brown but the people at the convention who knew who I was suppose to be didn't seem to care.  Also, my help went purple for the sleeve ruffle and I try to convince her it's white but got overruled so it's purple (I ended up learning Shinryu would have done the same thing for the color of the ruffles, so at least he got me to feel better about that).  Now that that's taken care of, nitpick away on things I didn't mention.

I'll brief you on why I went through with this.

I've been attending San Diego Comic Con for the past 3 years (not including this year, which I did attend.  Oh, now you know where I'm at in Southern California).  It bills itself as a "Comic Book and Pop Culture Convention."  Now comes how it went through.  I got the idea of dressing as a Tales character before 2007's Comic Con but didn't go through with it.  I also had the thought of, "Tales costume...the last thing I expect to see there, even then it'll be just Tales of Symphonia."  (I thought that due to "Tales isn't what I call being in pop culture light...at least here.")  I ate my word when I saw just that plus Abyss costumes.  I decided to go through with being one character I wanted to do...with some help.  Surprisingly, it wasn't Cless Alvein but Leon Magnus.

So that's how this came to be and I did run around SDCC as Leon Magnus a couple of weeks ago.  Still, if the Tales Brigade ends up bringing up photos of Tales costumes, you're going to have to convince me really hard to submit it.

Oh yeah.  Cless, the tomatoes are behind you.  After all, I know you want to pound "Leon Magnus" with them!

Looks great!

Your hair looks black enough in the photo. Your sleeve ruffles seem okay too, because I think they're supposed to be a real light purple.

Tomatoes? Alter Leon asks, "Is that all?".

I spent way too long making that, and it's not as smoothly animated as I was aiming for...

Anyways, not bad.

Thanks for the comment, Cyllya.  I did have the intention to show you the costume when it was done before the con but wasn't able to (but I think you may have gotten that part).

It's nice to know letting my hair grow wasn't for nothing.  I was even thinking about spraying it black if it came down to it (at that point when I got worried, I couldn't back away from it).

Also, If I knew you'd also think that in regards to the ruffle, I would have asked you about it while the costume was being made (when that came up), since you're an artist and would see these things I would miss and being in the Tales fandom, you'd have some familiarity with it, even if it's Tales of Destiny we're talking about.  Well, that's another assurance on the purple ruffles.

Well, I am thinking about doing another Tales character for next year's Comic Con (I got four in mind and I'm trying to decide).  At least I'll keep you in mind if I do go into another Tales costume again and I got question on something I'm not seeing in the art reference.

Once again, thanks for the comment.

I see that and couldn't help but laugh with it.  I was so not expecting Leon Kennedy and the eggs.  Well, here they come!

But seriously, thanks for the comment.

several major issues:

- where is chaltier with demonic energy pulsating all around it? you should be able to jump, yell "DAMONZ LANSU ZERO", get a few weird looks, and then laugh as people gasp in awe at the dark magic-y stuff. it would be a great response to anyone who goes all "but ruffle should be white lawl". that, or just say "MARIAN" in your most emo voice, spin around dramatically, and then stab them (not too hard of course). security getting in your way? pshaw and fiddlesticks!
- on that note, you need to look emo. leon is super emo.

other than those, it looks good.

I like the custom, but I agree you should put a more "emotionless" face, just as lion has in ToW:ND2 skit face

I was originally going to have a Chaltier prop sword made but time restraint and a reading of prop guidelines saying the weapon needs to stay on you and not drawn out made me forgo it.  Though I may have misread it but I doubt it.  Either way, I wasn't able to get one made.

I was thinking not smiling was enough but I guess not.

Nice to hear some more comments on this.

I actually read the post before seeing the pic and was expecting much worse...of course I agree that you need to look a tad bit more emo, but it's close enough... and yeah the hair look black to me.

i was sort of joking about the emo bit (and the rest of the post, for that matter), though i suppose it's true that you'd want to if you want to be in-character. on the other hand, you could try being cheerful for surprising effect, or perhaps act joker-crazy.

Completely understandable, Magicpaint.  I was actually nervous before the con since I was originally going to show it off first in private to the ones I'm close to online (along with wanting them to be completely honest with me, so I know beforehand something was done wrong) but it wasn't ready as early as I hope for, so that didn't happen.

Kaji, I knew you were partly joking but looking more emo was certainly a valid comment, though.  I didn't get too into the emo aspect of it at the con, partly because I was enjoying myself and more people recognized who I was suppose to be than I expected. Oh yeah, and I wasn't going to exploit the fact Presea Combatir Tara Strong was at Comic Con and I didn't have anything Presea related for her to sign in order to motivate me to get in a fake bad mood.

Umm I would have liked if she sayed "INFLICTION!" .3.
If I had seen her, though, I would have given her something Norma related, since I loved the work she done there (and I like legendia too)
