Are you going to be upping the exp/gald/lens gained from battle to make up for the lower encounter rate?

No. Another reason for this change is because I also thought that stuff was over-abundant to begin with. I'm of the opinion that the original game is way, way, way too easy. Mind-numbingly so. I'm not actually sure how much of a dent this hack is going to put into rectifying that yet, but we'll see...

One question friend and I are wondering.

Why are we changing Marian and ZAN!  They're fine the way they are...Changing them to anything else would just be kinda strange.

Marian you SHOULD keep.  It's really the only good choice.

1) There's a girl he likes named Marian
2) He yells out MARIAN
3) The skills named Marian

Anything else just doens't seem to fitting...

this is applicable to every skill everyone has. should majinken be majinken, then, instead of demon fang?

No but Marian is the name of a human, let alone someone he knows/likes.  I don't think it'd be right if it wasn't named Marian.

Since it's a victim of being an untranslatable play on words, there's nothing you could do about it unless you renamed Marian (the character), probably to something ridiculous.

My view is that calling the ability "Marian" is a tad counterintuitive based on most other tech names. But what to do about it, I've not yet decided.

And ZAN!... Zan is meaningless in English. There's nothing remotely Japanese about Mary, so there's no context to support it.

I noticed in earlier posts that people thought "Marian" was an odd name for a skill, and its' alternative, Demon Attack, was no better. So I grabbed my thesaurus and looked up a bunch of synonyms for "Attack" and "Strike".
Demon Strike
Demon Blitz
Demon Drive
Demon Smite
Demon Raid
Demon Slam

Quote from: Kanjitani-Eizan
the japanese name was actually more like demon darkness... if you have synonyms for that, that'd be great too Tongue

All righty then.

Demon Shadow
Demon Dusk
Demon Eclipse
Demon Gloom
Demon Ruin
Demon Repose
Demon Void

Mary currently has two tech names longer than Infernal Torrent. They fit as well. But really, I can't remember if it's even possible to see this screen with the other characters in a normal game, because you ordinarily can't swap out Stahn.

I think the best hack would be to change that, as the game limit you a lot by only allowing the use of stahn for the first player.
(I use to do the channeling ring trick to play whit the others characters, but now i want to replay this on my PSP so... Sad )

I think there may be a very easy hack that will allow you to swap out Stahn (you actually can if you play in Debug mode), but I seem to recall there being problems in (some?) story scenes if he isn't the party leader. A fix for that problem is probably too extensive...

I think most people would be satisfied with being able to control player 2 manually without any accessories needing to be equipped, if swapping out Stahn is too much of a pain because of the need for him to be there for certain events.

Then don't download the patch when it comes out.

BTW, awesome job Cless. I was thinking of playing ToD again, now I have even more reason to do so.

Maybe a separate patch for the ability to swap out Stahn, with a notice that that patch may cause story scene bugs? >_>
That way, people who want the ability can just switch Stahn back in for some scenes, and people who don't want to deal with that can just get the other patch. o_o

>_>, because I think it'd be pretty fun playing this on a PSP...:x

Stahn has to be virtually in every scene, otherwise it completely destroys everything.  Trust me, I went through the game playing as Lilith in first slot and Stahn in second...I had to switch them back and forth virtually 95% of the game.
