Um, yea, please don't credit Namco Bandai US for the survey when it's just a translation of the Japanese ones that are put out far more frequently (and way less discreet than through newsletters). Only it's also translated sloppily. Who makes a survey where you can check all 5 options of "Are you interested in RPGs?" Yes, I'm Not Interested and Very Interested, but really I Don't Know!
C'mon.
Aww, even if they don't deserve credit for creating the survey, and they screwed up the distribution of it, it's good that they decided to distribute a survey. And they did add some.
The "Are you interested in RPGs?" problem is just a lack of idiot-proofing, which I never liked anyway, especially when it's helpful for you to know which of your end users are idiots. People should be able to figure out that they're only supposed to pick one.

Cyllya predicts:
--Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World will reveal that Ratatosk was involved in ToS's last required scene in Heimdall.
--Tales of Vesperia's plot will involve space aliens in some way

Cyl, I dunno, it's just that after a while don't you want to stop seeing things that make you go "A for effort
"? Their sales/PR has been getting better, but perhaps they need to pull a little more weight. *shrug*

Hopefully they're not riding much on these surveys, cause they're not gonna get responses. You can sorta bypass the error page if you understand the nature of javascript (surveymonkey's awesome system). ie Going back a page and hit Next and had to skip 2 pages, but I've sorta sent mine in.
Yeah. The survey was a pain in the butt. I went back to it, picking up from last night and I had to con my way out of the 6th question. That question was pretty much something to forget answering seriously. I completed it now regardless. I just wish it was done better.

Gak, how can you stand English text + Japanese voice when you know some Japanese? That's as bad as it all being in English but the text and voice worded differently!
Well, I guess I'd be able to tolerate it if Namco wanted to save some time/money by not dubbing it.
I've been an anime fan for years, so I'm very used to having English text over my spoken Japanese. I mean, it's not really necessary, but in most cases, I'd rather have English text over Japanese voices then have English text over English voices. Given, the recent Tales dubs have actually been good, but generally . Given, it really doesn't make that much of a difference to me. But my understanding of spoken Japanese isn't perfect, so having any kind of rough subtitles is helpful. Most often it's a vocabulary problem or an formality problem, but yeah... For years I've been able to know when a subtitle is accurate or not when I hear spoken Japanese, I just like having the English text as a sort of cheat sheet. Until I'm totally fluent (which is my goal), I don't mind having those kinds of helpful hints.
*EDIT* And I'm not saying I want the game not to have a full english localization. I'm just saying I hope the file format is the same such that I could play it in this 'undubbed' format later if I want to.

I think the point Cyllya was trying to get through was that during the localization process of a game, the script often goes through heavy rewriting to make dialog and text flow better in its new language, resulting in a huge percentage of mismatches between original audio and localized script.

Certainly if that's the only point she wanted to make, I understand completely and agree. Either way, as long as more Tales games come stateside, I really don't mind what else happens. More Tales is seldom a bad thing (except for my wallet).

Heh... just thought about what the box art of ToR would look like if Namco decided to bring it over...

#1 tip: don't release the next tales games right next to FF13, DQ9, etc. etc.

It confirms that they are still interested in the series for US release, that's it.

Them leaving out ToDr on that list (Narikiri Dungeon 1 GBA? What? Someone needs to proof read..) probably means they already have arrangements and stuff ready to bring it out here..

If there is going to be another Tales of Phantasia remake it better be like TODR graphics. If more TOP sequel or prequel I want a story on the Ragnarok War. Valkyrie as the main character maybe

Yeah, I agree with you there, I have a lot of interest in the event they call Ragnarok and about Odin, Fenrir, and Thor. There's certainly a lot of great story that could be told about that.
