My  piece of information in this topic:
Leon has his reasons to be a sad person. While Luke does too, he approches it from a completely different way, and he tries to grow on his past.
Leon, on the other hand, took his own problems and convinced himself he could handle it all. I dont think he ever wanted to change, main reason he never really opened to anyone but Stahn and Rutee.
In my opinion, Luke did what any human does, adapt into a situation, while Leon just never really changed in his whole story (Hell chaltier tells him he could use Stahnīs help near the end of Leonīs side, and he refuses it,  thinking that he could handle everything)

Then again, Leon lived with his problems everyday, while Lukeīs problem was just a "lets beat myself up for the wrong reasons". Family problems > identity crisis, I can assume.

Blah blah blah Black Hole! (Lets go to Eternia world today, woot! RIDIN A BLACK HOLE)

The real problem with comparing Luke and Leon is that you can't compare Luke and Leon.

I think the changes in Leon's character were more significant and believable than Luke's, even if for Leon, it was too late to change the outcome. Luke, on the other hand, has the majority of the game to become Luke 2.0. I look at it this way - if Luke died right after his mystic haircut, would his development have been believable? Not likely. It takes him a while to grow into a decent character. Of course, that's the way the game was designed. Just like Destiny was designed for Leon's story to stop there. Apples and oranges really.

Leon is a stubborn brat with 3rd grade problem solving skills.
Luke is an airhead who doesn't know the meaning of moderation.

They're both victims of circumstance, but I still wanted to slap some sense into both of them.

as much as i dislike luke, you have to admit that he has a legitimate reason to be the way he is -- he's a replica of asch, and look how asch turned out. it's a wonder luke turned out as well as he did Tongue

that said, and veering somewhat on-topic, the anime did make luke's characterization a lot more believable. they at least tried to make A CERTAIN SOMEONE ELSE's characterization more believable, too -- but in the end, she's still a gigantic idiot that should pretty much just die in a fire. i can't imagine leon or emil being nearly as bad, despite not having played ToDR (only ToD PSX) or ToS2.

True, but it would be nice to see more about Leon. And even a *gasp* Leon nice to Rutee

Alright, it's okay.  I just didn't understand what you were trying to say.

Like I said, stupid stuff that wasn't really trying to respond to anything. I wasn't really trying to make any sort of point either, other than Leon and Emil need to die. They first need to be raped. Twice. Each. Then die in the most spectacular fashion involving fire. Also that Luke should not be in the same category as them however it does not mean you have to like him more.

So, basically they need to be dropped on Madworld as bosses?

They'd be sitting ducks.
