Hi, I'm new here and I googled and found about that the admin of this site was making a patch for Tales of Destiny 2 and Rebirth aswell, so I took a look around the forum and registered myself.

I was wondering if it's possible to make an english patch for PS2 version of ToS ?
I've owned the PS2 version myself for quite some time and still am in the very beginning and I really feel strange for playing the japanese version since it includes extras, also the guides are just for GC version so I'll miss the Extra costumes and such so I was wondering if there is a patch available or if the admin is thinking in making a patch in the future ?
Thanks in advance and sorry for all this ramble!

It's been asked about before (not just here). Not many people are willing to do it because most people feel it's not worth the effort.

You can play it on the GC already, which is exactly the reason why it's highly unlikely someone will do the hacking effort for the PS2 port.

I know this is a preety old topic but...
I was thinking, it gives a lot of work to make a translation for the ps2 version of the ToS;
but what about making a patch for the GC version that includes all the ps2 extras,
that could be easier (maybe, I dont realy know) and everyone could enjoy that extras without you having to rewrite all the story into english (and have the english voices for those who prefer it).

....no. This would not be easier at all. Figuring out how to properly insert a text translation into the PS2 game would be much easier than reprogramming the GC one to add the PS2 extras. Plus the extras aren't too huge (yeah, a few Mystic Artes, costumes, and a few small scenes), and it'd make more sense to put that effort into a newer Tales game that doesn't already have an English release.

If you have the Symphonia strategy guide, you can use it to play the PS2 version. And then fill in any information gaps with stuff on Gamefaqs (like the new titles and stuff). At least, that's what I'm doing. And I own the GC version, too. I AM SOME KIND OF TALES NERD.

I'm not sure if you have to know some actual kanji for the scene in the springs where you're hopping on ice blocks to pick up the statue.

I'm pretty sure the statue is optional to obtain anyway >_>

no, i think you need to trade the statue with the collector in the mountain pass so that you can read the book of regeneration. my memory is hazy, but i think you actually need it.

I'm pretty the book of regeneration is optional too. I'm pretty sure it's only purpose was to tell where the seals are. But you can access them just fine without it.
