I said the menu hacking was done!?!? Bah! I'm bored with little else to do, so I decided that some of the menu cosmetics could be refined even further.

So, here I am redoing the status menu. In the portion where it displays your character's equipment, I cut out the equipment type text (i.e. Weapon, Body, Shield) because I oppose the idea of long item names overlaying the character portrait. Common sense would tell you what it belonged to anyway. And it looked like this:



But after a bit of thinking, I came up with a way to bring back that equipment type text, while keeping the item names off the portrait. And basically, that idea looked like this...



Well... let's rearrange things a bit more...



Hmm... well, how about we make it a bit less cramped...



Problem is, I'm not really sure which way to go. I kinda like them all. Anyone have ideas for further improvement?

IMO it looks better like this:



This is obviously a quick combination I made of the second and third images. I really like what you did with the numbers but prefer the equipment reaching the bottom of the screen.

I rather like this one. I think it's good to use space if it's there. Not like anything else is going to be in the status screen (unless you want to add something new for some reason), so you may as well make the most of the space that's there.

I think this one's the best. The first Klarth one looks funky with the EXP crowding the items, and the other ones look funky without the top or bottom of the items being aligned with anything else.

And it looks like this layout is the winner by a mini landslide. Just hardcoded it into the game.

 Nice stuff. ^^ Though it'd probably make it look a little more organized to line up the words (Weapon, Armor, ect) with the stat names on the left.

The settled version looks perfect except for the "LV"'s value being left aligned in a column were all other values are right aligned. I think renaming that to "Level" and right aligning its value may look better. Nice design work!

I agree with the above, the level alignment was the one thing that felt odd in all of the screenshots.

But other than that, it looks really good =)

I have it there because the level is only a max of 3 numbers and it's really a separate stat from all the others... I could align it with the current HP/TP value though...
