What about the official english GBA script?
I'll definitely be paying attention to see how some things are translated, which may influence our project in some ways. Although I haven't gotten any solid confirmation yet, I have been hearing that for whatever reason, the GBA script is largely based on the SNES script, which is a big no-no. And of course, the PSX version still has its exclusive parts.
What about the character names? Some are being changed offically...
Yeah, Cless is being "changed" to Cress and Klarth is being "changed" to Claus, those evil bastards (cough). While I still retain my opinion that these changes are hardly worth complaining about, and that there is probably good reason for having these changes in the official translation anyway, I have to say that we probably won't be using them in our own work. Why we probably won't, I honestly don't know. I mean, we're changing just about everything else to conform to official standards, but for this, I just can't bring myself to have it done. And no, it's not really a personal preference thing.
The official translation can and probably will influence NPC names, though. Except Klarth's assistant, anyway (she's being called Milard, which is a man's name! It's an R and L switch, but we're most likely calling her Mirald, which seems to have a much more feminine feel to it, even if it's not a "normal" name).
