Holy shit, you're still working (and I use that term loosely) on this? Hasn't it been a decade now? A decade! Jesus Christ! I understand that you have a life but so does every other fan translator who has ever completed a translation patch for a JRPG. Some years ago I was actually looking forward to this, and the Destiny patches. Hopefully another team will finish them. I'm surprised Absolute Zero even agreed to wait until your ToP patch is done, everyone knows that it won't be finished in the planet's lifetime.

Was making another account to post this really necessary?

To be honest, I partly agree with that guy. I've been lurking on this board for the last few years, and this project is blazing along with all the gusto of a banana slug. Every few weeks I come on here, and I see where it looks like you've completed about an hour of work, posted about it, and then had 5 or 6 hive-minded nincompoops verbally fellate you for your amazing work.
I keep checking because you seem to be doing a fantastically in-depth job, but I'm beginning to think that you're one of those people that just never reach the finish line because you waste all of your time on insignificant details. You might very well be the Michelangelo of JRPG translation patches, but to date you're just a gay Italian man with a half-finished Sistine Chapel.

Upon further inspection, I just learned that the Sistine Chapel only took 4 years, so...

I don't know what I can say to please skeptics. I could say a lot of things, but they'd no doubt come off as nothing but empty excuses. I'm well aware there aren't many good reasons why this isn't finished yet; that's why I don't say much when there are long periods of downtime.
But what I can say is that I definitely do feel very pressured to finish, and have for a long time. I want this damn thing done more than anyone. But when you're burned out, you're burned out. No amount of whining is going to magically increase the pace, and I will not release anything until these finishing touches are done with and beta testing has completed.
I sometimes feel like creating this thread was a huge mistake. It only seems to have bred more impatience and expectations.

It's like having to write essay after essay after essay for a number of classes and at the end you're just like "I don't want to write anymore", because if you do everything turns to shit and you get a failing grade. Last summer, I had to write 2-3 essays per week, 1 for philosophy and 1-2 for government. In the final weeks of the semester, I just wrote down shit to get it over with and get a grade. At the end of it, I didn't do quite well.

After reading some comments here I finally logged after 5 years (I think this is my first post here, although I registered in 2006).
I just want to thank Cless for taking some time of his life, all those years, to release a public patch, to us (who have done nothing). I know it will be released, and I thank you for your persistence.

I know I don't get on here very much but I just have to weigh in on this seeing where the thread is going. I'd personally find it hard to even attempt at properly empathizing with you on this project, Cless. The only thing I've spent this much time on has been the past 9 years going from college freshman to MD candidate. I'm immensely impressed by your absolutely limitless resolve to stick to this thing until its finally done. I've sort of looked at the AbsoluteZero translation of the game a little bit but not even as much as your demo goes into as far as how much of it I've seen. I know I can just play through it now if I want to, but I just can't help but wait for yours. When anything has this much time gone into it, you're if nothing else extremely curious to see how it is. I want my first playthough of this game to be your patch, Cless. I'll wait another few years if I have to. Like you, thanks to school mostly, I have an enormous backlog of unplayed games. I wish I could do anything at all that could help you out. I'm pathetic at Japanese (again no time to stick to learning it right now) and I'm even more pathetic at anything programming. I don't have great writing credentials with a BS in Chemistry and an MPH and 3/4ths of an MD. But I'll be here waiting patiently with so many others that have been following this pretty much since the beginning; back when we were wondering if our PCs would even be able to emulate this well... Keep it up, man. Thanks for everything. I can't wait.

I agree with Rakko. This is a bit ridiculous. Why not release the tools so we can translate this ourselves if your only excuse is being busy or cant make up your mind? All this editing is very amateurish.

Folks, leave Cless alone. I'm perfectionist like him, and I know he'll take his time to get this perfect. I know this sucks, but I think that even I wouldn't launch a half-made service for everyone to see, you know?
Cless is just feeling that it is incomplete, he'll take his time, slowly but surely he will make it.
Be patient. I am patient here.

It's beyond me how people involved in these types of projects put up with all the whining, self-entitlement, and general assholery. Stay classy, increasingly-douchy fanbase.

After a while it just becomes "whatever." Anyway, this thread is definitely getting derailed so I'm gonna split the derailment out of it.

Amazing how many people will come to one's defense. I admit, the patch looks great. Absolute Zero's was pretty nice but I think Cless' looks even better. Unfortunately by the time it comes out only a handful of people will even care. Ignoring the fact that it will probably never happen, I wonder how long it will take for the Destiny patches to be finished.

At some point all perfectionists are going to have to let go cause nothing will ever be perfect however it is up to them when that point is unless there are higher ups pushing it along. No one has any business telling someone who has spent that much of his life on it that it is good enough and to release it other than himself.

Why are so many ppl complaining
, I'm not trying kiss cless' ass (like some), but seriously it's already been mentioned time and again that there's an AZT patch avaliable.
Not tearing this project down, but if you don't want to wait for this then you have other options. This guy's @ least posting a demo patch for the most part. I wish it would get done sooner as much as anyone else (so other projects will get "un-hiatus-ed" of course), but do you really think bitching about it is going to make this process faster or put him in the mood to do anything?
Most ppl would end up saying "***** it" and give up if they were in the same position, but here's a guy @ least attempting to make patches for these games instead of bitching.
