Localization?

It recently occurred to me, Cless, that I don't know what you mean when you refer to your preference for a localization approach. What I'd normally assume that means... doesn't really seem applicable to ToP. Do you just mean the way you've adjust the menus and stuff?

i sort of assumed he meant that stuff should flow naturally, things that might be left japanese-y with a translation note at the top in a fansubbed anime episode would instead be modified slightly (or greatly) to allow for smooth and sensible text, namco hometek's naming conventions would be followed, etc.

I think the best answer would be under "The Goal of the Translation" in the FAQ. It's explained fairly clearly there.

Suppose I should reread that....
Huh, guess I'm not as much of a purist as I thought? Except Gummy->Gel (the atrocity!), that stuff never struck me as not being a "literal" or "straightforward" translation. Unless by "The characters will have well-defined personalities" he means they'll potentially be more well-defined than they were in Japanese. (Mint
is
pretty bland...)

It's a nauseatingly sappy remix of Marco-Polo they came up with, thus, uh, symbolizing them trying, um, to find each other. Yeah.

Come to think I'm going to need some good descriptions of character personalities and such. I want the chosen editor to write the character dialogues with a voice in mind. I'm not very good at explaining them myself.

Well if the editors don't know the characters at all, wouldn't watching the OVA be a good start at least.
