What video?

there was a conference video or something on youtube. It showed all the new Tales games in action briefly. The ToP battle shown had a ToP PSX feel to it and spell pause was still present.

This video, right? It is a bit difficult to tell for sure, but the spell pause does appear to be in there.

Yep, I've used the ToP PS1 battle system for hours myself. That was definitely a spell pause.

The ND sprites were okay, but I really would have preffered all-new sprites for the PSP remake. Nonetheless, I would appreciate the option to "switch" between the two types of sprites if at all possible.

On the topic of ND sprites... am I the only one who finds Mint's sprites a little... off? Roll Eyes

Well lets examine my old sig and see...

http://camex.phenominet.c...m/avatars/topcharssig.png

Cless - He looks fine, then again it was reused from ToE

Chester - I don't know but I swear his hair is stiff or something.

Mint - She's fine.

Arche - See Subject: Cless

Klarth - I swear they did his eyes wrong in his voctory stance plus I swear his battle pose makes him look like a kung fu fighter or something

Suzu - Maybe a little TOO short

Ami - She never really had a battle sprite so she doesn't really count although she is a little too tall. And I swear she's like 14 or 15 years of age. I don't care what you all say Angry

Mirald - Lol, Milard. Anyway [COPY/PASTE] She never really had a battle sprite so she doesn't really count

Dhaos - Perfect

BTW, thats MY old sig. No one is allowed to use it Angry

There are narikiri sprites however, but the problem is that they don't have all the weapon looks.

an example of cless, this is ripped from Narikiri Dungeon 3, or Tales of Eternia
he doesn't have sprites for axes and other swords.

Thanks for the link, Yatika, I had been looking for that~

Is it odd that I had never heard about Tales of the Tempest being for DS? I'm glad it is, though ^^

i don't know if anyone thought of this if they want the new battle sprites, but... why not just translate the PSP version of ToP once it comes out (this is of course taking in to account that there may be an official localization)? i don't know much about hacking and all that, but i'm betting a lot of the code is the same, i mean, it is almost a direct port from the PSX version, right? so if the PSX version is already translated, there shouldn't be a huge deal... right?

Because, dear Fluffy, Cless has been working on this PSX translation for quite a long time, and, as he states in his last update on the main site, "Anyway, just because ToP PSX will soon be losing its status as the king of all ToPs, we will not be dropping the translation project! If anything, I'd like to try implementing some of the changes into the PSX version." Then, of course, there are people like me...who REALLY want the PSX version done. In regards to the PSP version...I highly doubt that it will be a direct port...Namco will be doing something different with it...and likely some coding will be different. Even if it is a direct port, though, it would still require someone to sit there and put in all of that text, etc. over again. And he's still got Destiny 2 to work on, too!

of course he should still finish the PSX version. i never suggested anything otherwise. i was simply saying that, at a later date, maybe the PSP version could also be translated.

so if the PSX version is already translated, there shouldn't be a huge deal... right?

i think it speaks for itself. it was just a thought. it seems like more of a hassle to implement changes from the PSP version into the PSX version (such as completely altering battle sprites and animations, and maybe new quests or skits...) than to simply finish the PSX translation and then translate the PSP version. and, yes, someone will still have to sit and put in all that text. but at least the text will already be there, translated, to insert, rather than having the trouble of translating it all over again (minus the new dialogue added, etc.). and from whoat i've seen, the game does look like almost a direct port, just with added or extended pieces to it. of course, i guess until the game is released or more info is released, we can't really do anything but speculate, can we? it's not a complete remake, like it was from the SNES to the PSX, though...

...the other bonus to doing a PSP translation is also, of course, that it's a full-voice version. i don't know how important that is to many (not that important to me), but it is nice, isn't it?

I don't think anyone else has played the PSP version yet though, although I do plan on importing it and telling you guys the changes once I do get it.

I do know one thing though and thats the game has even more voice samples, characters like Runeglom, Mirald, Ami and such now have voices to accompany the dialogue.

Hence the fact that it's a "Full Voice" version -- like ToE. ^_^
