Anyway, just because ToP PSX will soon be losing its status as the king of all ToPs, we will not be dropping the translation project! If anything, I'd like to try implementing some of the changes into the PSX version, I can't guarantee anything. I might be able to put the new battle sprites in if it the format is the same...

If you can do that I'll call you king, well not even king but God

But I like the Super deformed sprites Sad

Doing so might be rather difficult though seeing as you'll have to hack, snapshot or whatever to actually obtain the PSP version's sprites and implement every single frame into the actual game. The scenery may be different too plus you also have to do bosses and monsters as well.

If you are somehow able to do this I would be very pleased but I think its far too much trouble to implement. I suggest leaving the graphics alone and simply see if you can try and implement any other features the PSP version may have like extra quests or new equipment.

And now, time for a stupid question you all already know the answer to: ToP is coming to the PSP - is that in english?

I personally never liked the Narikiri Dungeon look for the Phantasia cast... Perhaps an official poll is in order.

I mentioned changing the sprites on the old forum. I got a buch of nasty replies too. I still say that sd is the worst thing ever (except for sd gundam x, that game is sooooo good).  Anyway, it would be cool if possible.

Also, it might not be that hard to translate the psp version. If its just a port, then most of the code will be exactly the same. It was for the megaman legends ports.

In the end, looks are just a matter of personal taste.

Back when ToE had recently been released in the US, I used to love the SD look alot more than the style ToE used (which ND2-3's became based on). I outright hated ToE's style at first, but after a while I played through the game a couple of times and became converted. Nowadays I don't like the squishy 2-head SD style of ToP/ToD anymore! Well, it's not so bad for ToD, but I still have a harder time tolerating ToP-PSX/GBA's style.

Anyways, what I'm trying to say, is that people have different tastes that may or may not change over time. I think it'd be best to have the translation 'true' to the original in the sense of visual aesthetics and present content. But an alternate patch that employs the changes/extras from the PSP edition would also certainly be nice, although including the new set of voices will be out of the question unless a method to safely expand the game comes along.

Yes, perhaps there should be two patches if it isn't a lot of trouble. If Cless was thinking switching out sprites, then there probably should be two...

I don't like Narikiri style Phantasia because it makes them look weird sort of... Personally I don't care for anyone except Chester. I can tolerate everyone in Narikiri form except Chester. Something about his face doesn't look right, I just don't like it. Also his hair. Narikiri form makes it look like he uses two bottles of hair gel every morning, makes him look like Geese Howard.

Truth be told I'm not a huge fan of the PSX/GBA chibis either. But they're still miles ahead of the horrible "fat kid" sprites in the SFC version, which hardly if at all resembled the final artwork for the game.

The ND2/3 sprites were an improvement to me. But it looks to me that only Cless is using the ND sprite and everyone else's resembles the PSX sprite, but better proportioned in the PSP version.

I personally think they messed up with Suzu's sprite. She short, but not THAT short. Plus her face looks kinda weird.

Its also a shame since Suzu us probably my favourite Tales character besides Chester, besides Arche, besides Keele, besides Leon, besides...

I thought Chester's was the only one that was good of the ND2/3 sprites (except Cless and Arche, but those were from ToE). >_>

But I should hope the real reason they're changing the sprites is actually because they're updating the battle system (it's hard to fight fluidly when the length of your armspan is about the same as the diameter of your head), so it might not be so feasible to put them in ToP-PSX.

Cyllya predicts:
--Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World will reveal that Ratatosk was involved in ToS's last required scene in Heimdall.
--Tales of Vesperia's plot will involve space aliens in some way

An updated battle system is very much called for... If they don't then I hope they at least take out how spells freeze the action on screen.

The impression I got from the video is that the PSP version is still using the same engine as the PSX version.

What video? I like the new shapes, but really I just want more skills for Chester and Suzu. Maybe a couple of spells for Mint. The change is only in battles too. (They didnt want to redraw everyone in the world...) Although Chester is now freakishly tall. (Maybe its the hair that takes him to the extreme, but hes still tall.) Well, if this was to be done then I'd like to see the new sprites used. A little change wont hurt. (I still havent seen a decent pic of suzu. She looks untouched to me...)

Don't know how much my vote will count for in this, but I'm quite content with ToE's portrayal of Cless and crew. I'm absolutely for the remake and shall hang a pic of Cless (the webmaster not the character, though I'll probably have one for the character also) and worship it every day =D.

I believe I speak for many when I say that I really thank you for what you're doing. Hope all goes well ... too late to post anymore ... Once again, Thanks a lot!!
