"Small" update
«

Getting some technical progress on the script front.
About a month old, but Habilain succeeded in creating "an incredibly glitchy 32 characters per line mode" for the dialogue text during his easter holiday. As you've probably known, we've been stuck with 16 characters per line limitation, which is well... not very nice. So with a little more time on his hands, we'll hopefully have an unlimited character per line mode (well, within reason)
Klarth, with his highly sporadic motivation, suddenly out of the blue, has begun coding the new script dumper and an inserter that I've been yearning for for quite some time.
Because of the new script dumper, it will soon be time to seriously seek a translation of it. I sent Xero the old script dump about 10 months ago but I never heard back from him. I made an attempt to get his status a few months ago but he never replied. I will try again, but I'm on the verge of giving up, and finding someone to fill his shoes.
It is my hope that we'll be able to insert and play with beta scripts inserted into the game sometime later this year. And make screenshots with them. Because we know you love screenshots.

I can translate a few bits for you to test stuff with until you get the script translated by Xero or some other real translator.

Well, that's really great. And too bad you couldn't get in touch with Xero, he seemed so motivated and competent

Great Notice. 32 Characters per line sounds more accurate translation.
But... The size of each character... will be very small? or not...

No. Notice the second update down on
this
page. At sixteen characters per line, the text (which is easily large enough) stretches maybe a bit more than a third of the way across the text box. Thirty-two chracters will get closer to filling the text box, but there's still going to be room for more.

Great, now you don't need enemies named K. Bee or Scavengr.

Both the battle and menu 8x8 variable width fonts now work on real PS1s and PS2s.

btw anyone worried about the 8x8 font being hard to read on a TV can put their fears to rest. I still found it very easy to read about 10 ft away on my 9 year old 27 inch TV (S-Video connection).
For what it's worth I was also amazed at how readable FF4 GBA's tiny ass 8x8 font was on my TV. And that game's 8x8 VWF's characters are a pixel thinner on average.
