A BAD NINJA APPEARS!

damn  Angry too bad it took so long for ep4

I hope this is not true or hopefully will be delayed ^^

You just ignored what Cless said didn't you? If a dub is true then you can kiss goodbye to the subs. He'll be taking them down as soon as they're released. Don't feel too bad though as there's another sub of Ep4 anyway, plus if its being released on DVD it'll probably have the ability to switch languages just like in all anime DVDs I have. So it isn't such a huge loss. I'm just not confident about its release in US as there's only two sources of reliable information and thats its not annouced officially. The two sources being the blog and the blog's writer of course >_>

I checked Geneon's official website for any news of it, and although they have release dates for new projects all the way up through January 2007, there is absolutely no mention of anything regarding Tales of Phantasia: The Animation. So, I took it upon myself to email them. Hopefully I'll hear back from them within the next couple of days. I don't know, I just can't trust the fact that ToP is coming to North America anytime soon, if really, at all. I mean, the series isn't even popular here..O_o I don't know. I'll wait for word from them. Maybe then we can clear this thing up once and for all. Although, I doubt that they'll give ME an official announcement when they haven't given one to the public.

Existing popularity as anime goes really means jack, though.

Sakura Taisen was released... yet we haven't seen a single game from that (massive) series.

Arc the Lad also started getting released on DVD a year before we got any games from it.

I've also seen cases where Geneon announces a street date for DVD releases without ever formally announcing the title beforehand.

I finally got a reply from Geneon. It says

"Thank you for your email.
We have not heard any information on that
title. I'm sorry I'm not able to answer you questions regarding that
release. Keep watching our website for upcoming information and
releases. If you have nay further questions please feel free to contact
us.

Have a nice day!
Markedia W"

...I'd say that either this whole licensing thing was a false rumor, or.. Well, I don't know what. I'd expect them to at least have information regarding the OVA, especially if it's being dubbed. I mean, come on. No offense, but it just doesn't add up to me. =\

It was also mentioned at Bang Zoom's Anime Expo panel back in July.

Geneon isn't going to confirm anything they haven't formally announced yet.

They've got a release date (probably a throwaway place holder?) set aside for it and a section, it's ..confirmably , formally official now XP

Maybe there's something Namco isn't telling us? Wink

I'm kidding, of course.

http://www.amazon.com/Tales-Phantasia-1-Ws-Sub/dp/B000JVSUNY/sr=11-1/qid=1164336812/ref=sr_11_1/105-0650470-1678832

Hm... is it going to be released on a single DVD?  If that Amazon listing is right at 120 minutes, that's great.  Seems we'll be able to pick this up for MUCH cheaper than our poor Japanese counterparts who paid out their asses for those LE 1 ep per disc deals.

The Hero's of Space & Time..?!

For the love of God, it's annoying enough to put up with crap like that on the internet, but seeing it bleed into retail products is starting to really clip at my patience.

Well, technically that is said during Tales of Phantasia.  I don't recall the kanji, but it can definitely be translated as Space-Time or Space & Time.  The only part of that title that annoys me is "Hero's" instead of Heroes.  *Shrugs*  I'm just shocked we're getting this on DVD, so I'm not all that worried about the details.  Plus, Geneon is the one that licensed it.  I don't think I've ever been disappointed with one of their releases.

I just found this over on the Namco Tales Forum.

http://tales.namco.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1606712#1606712

It seems that the OVA will be using the localized names for the characters.  Meaning that we'll be seeing Cress and Claus once again... Undecided  Thank goodness that they don't mention Ragnarok during the OVA, else we'd have to hear about the history of Kangaroo.

Well, at least they fixed my only gripe with the localized names (Klaus ftw).

Yeah, that kinda irked me too. Although, that and the little "Kangaroo" flub weren't enough to take away my enjoyment of the game. I still love playing it, but, I'm still really looking forward to seeing how you guys translate the PlayStation version!

I didn't mind the localized names, and I still say the Cress/Mint name connection was intentional. I will admit Klaus looks much better than Claus though. Honestly, the only reason I didn't actually play through the US version is that I had already played through it in Japanese and that was tiring enough for me. I bought it to show my support so that's TWO Namco GBA games I own Japanese and English versions of since I thought there'd be no way they'd come out here (and did, four years later!).
